By now, all parents should have received some information about I-10s and contingency plans. This information was distributed by email and/or phone call, so please check your messages if you haven't received anything yet.
We will need to make sure all members of the IEP team, including parents, are on board with the changes before we finalize them. Please contact your child's case manager if you have questions or concerns about this information. If you have not yet let us know that you are okay with the changes, or if you need more time to think about it, please let us know this as well.
We want to make sure we are able to follow all students' IEPs, whether they are learning at home or at school, and regardless of what mode school is in. If we are in hybrid mode and your child is learning virtually for any reason, we now have a contingency plan for that. We will follow the virtual IEP programming for students who are learning from home.
I am amazed with the flexibility and determination that our students have shown during these first few weeks. They have adapted remarkably well through all these changes and are thriving despite everything! Thank you for your collaboration and support during these uncertain times.
The first two weeks at Étude are used to intentionally establish culture and community within the classroom. This year is no different. These first two weeks will be especially important, as our teachers will set up guidelines in order to help our students be successful and stay safe this year. It is crucial that special education students remain with their peers and participate in all classroom activities during this time.
During the second week of school, we will be contacting virtual families with more information about what your child's unique accommodations, supports, and instruction will look like.
Reading groups, social skills groups, and all other special education instruction that takes place outside of the classroom will start the third week of school.
Hybrid students will be grouped for in-person instruction with members of their class/cohort only.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions, concerns, or ideas during this time. Have a great year!
