Nonprofit Call to Wellness Campaign
November 6th & 7th, 2025
In a time of urgency and uncertainty in the nonprofit sector, it is more important than ever to support the wellness, resilience, and healing of Philly's nonprofit leaders and teams.
To this end, nonprofit leaders and staff across our city are invited to participate in Call to Wellness, a two-day campaign taking place on November 6th and 7th designed to center wellness as a core leadership practice and lever for impact. During these two days, Philly nonprofit professionals are encouraged to set aside meaningful time to invest in their own wellness and the wellness of their teams.
The Call to Wellness coordination team includes the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey’s Center for Leadership Equity (CLE), in partnership with the Black Nonprofit Chief Executives of Philadelphia (BNCEP), the Nonprofit Leaders’ Circle (led by ImpactED), The Nonprofit Center, and Creative Praxis.
Funders and sponsors of the Call to Wellness include The Barra Foundation, The Patricia Kind Family Foundation, The Pooled Wellness Fund, and the Fitler Club.
Programming and resources available to support leaders and teams during this two-day campaign include:
· Nonprofit Leaders’ Circle (NLC) Wellness Retreat: ImpactED will host a parallel two-day wellness retreat for members of the Nonprofit Leaders’ Circle. Special thanks to The Fitler Club for generously donating space for this experience.
· Virtual Wellness Lunches: The Nonprofit Center will offer virtual lunchtime wellness sessions, open to nonprofit professionals at all levels, including community-based leaders.
· Nonprofit Wellness Guide: Creative Praxis is developing an interactive, accessible, and culturally relevant Nonprofit Wellness Guide, providing tools and daily practices to support individual wellbeing and team culture.

Taking Care in a Time of Change: A Wellness Check–in for Nonprofit Professionals
Thursday, November 6th from 12:00 p.m - 1:00 p.m. (virtual - on Zoom)
In a world where change seems constant, whether it’s leadership transitions, shifting,
priorities, or growing demands on organizations, it’s easy to put our own well – being
last. As nonprofit professionals, we often give so much of ourselves to others that we
forget to pause, breathe, and take care of our own mental health.
Join The Nonprofit Center for an interactive session focused on grounding, connection,
and collective care. Participants will have the opportunity to check in with themselves
and each other, reflect on their well-being, share healthy ways to decompress, and learn
practical tools to prevent burnout.
Through guided discussion, breath work, and reflection, we’ll focus on what it means to
sustain ourselves while continuing to make meaningful changes in our communities.
Take this time for yourself – you deserve it.
This workshop will be facilitated by Yolanda Clarke, Marketing and Communications Graduate Assistant at The Nonprofit Center.

Recognizing When to Pause
Friday, November 7th from 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. (virtual - on Zoom)
In a world that keeps us constantly busy, it’s easy to overlook our own limits and keep
pushing forward. We’ll talk about simple ways to slow down, take care of ourselves, and
create space to breathe, even when life feels full.
The workshop will be facilitated by Aquilla Walker, Manager of Community Development Programming at The Nonprofit Center.

The Annual BNCEP Wellness Retreat centers Black nonprofit leaders, recognizing the disproportionate barriers they face while creating a restorative space grounded in belonging and leadership sustainability. This experience not only strengthens individual leaders but also advances sector-wide goals of retention, impact, and effectiveness—benefiting the entire nonprofit ecosystem. Established by the Center for Leadership Equity (CLE), the retreat provides a purposeful pause from the relentless demands of leadership. It is a sanctuary where Black nonprofit executives can restore balance, renew their energy, and reclaim the clarity needed to lead with vision and sustainability. This Call to Wellness is not simply a pause—it is a collective movement to embed wellness as a core practice in nonprofit leadership and to sustain our sector for lasting impact.
While the registration process is closed for this year's retreat, you can get more information about this opportunity and other BNCEP programming here, or by emailing info@bncep.org.
