Courage Compassion Creativity
Despite the relentless rain this week, spirits at school have remained high. Our children have been brilliant at embracing the outdoors whenever possible, and we kindly ask that they continue to come to school with coats and appropriate wet‑weather clothing so we can make the most of every break and learning opportunity outside.
Parent Consultations are an important part of our school calendar, providing a valuable opportunity for teachers to share insights into the curriculum, your child’s progress, and how we can best support their academic, social and emotional development. It is also a chance for you to share any information that will help us provide the best possible experience for your child. Appointments are available for all children from Reception through to Year 6.
To ensure all families can attend, we are offering both face‑to‑face and virtual appointments. In‑person appointments will take place on Monday 23rd February, with virtual appointments available the following day (Wednesday 25th for children in Year 4).
As with the Autumn consultations, we ask that children do not attend these meetings. If you are unable to arrange childcare, please book a virtual appointment.
Booking opens this evening. All appointments must be made via the SchoolCloud system:
If you are unable to attend on the scheduled dates or have any questions about the system, please contact the school office and we will be happy to help.
Thank you for your continued support.
Warmest regards,
Nicola O’Hare
Head Teacher

Lucca is showing so much enthusiasm and motivation towards reading and writing - he is working hard to blend and segment sounds in words.
Wynter is a shining example of how to behave, treat friends and approach learning with a positive attitude!
Both Nelly and Emma have been working super hard - listening carefully to instructions so the can work independently. They are great role models for their Y2 friends - always showing The Sarratt Way!
Aoife has ben pushing herself in maths this week, working much more independently and with increased confidence when converting measurements.
Freya demonstrates deep thinking and a considered approach to learning - she always tries her best and has a radiant smile which brightens the room!
Poppy brings such lovely energy to our classrooms. She is also a keen learner, always wanting to know more and see where she can improve.
Year 1 have been travelling millions of years back in time this half‑term as they dive into their exciting topic: Dinosaurs! The classroom has been buzzing with creativity as the children develop their design and technology skills, bringing prehistoric creatures to life through imaginative making and building. They have designed and constructed their very own dinosaurs, carefully thinking about features, shapes and materials. The children also created cards with moving parts, exploring simple mechanisms to make their dinosaurs stomp, snap or swish their tails. To top it all off, they have been crafting their own “prehistoric fossils,” using tools and techniques to recreate the textures and patterns found in real fossilised remains. It has been a wonderful blend of creativity, curiosity and hands‑on learning, and the children have loved every moment of their dino adventures.

We kindly ask parents not to park on the grass alongside the pavement on the route from school towards Dawes Lane. Unfortunately, this area has recently been damaged by deep tyre tracks.
Please note that this grass verge is owned by the Parish Council and is not public land, so we must ensure it is treated with care.
Thank you for your support in helping us look after our local environment.
The school’s priority during severe weather is the safety of pupils, staff, and families. Decisions about closing the school are made carefully, taking into account road safety and emergency access, conditions on the school site, staffing levels, travel risks for families, and advice from local authorities and emergency services.
The Headteacher will decide on school closure as soon as possible (by 7:00am or the night before if conditions are clear) and inform parents/carers via the Arbor school messaging system.
What parents need to know
Severe weather may lead to later start times or early finishes. This will be communicated in advance via Arbor.
Breakfast club, after‑school club, and external clubs are cancelled during closures, so families should have alternative childcare plans ready.
Home learning will be provided through Google Classroom (Year 1 to Year 6). Children will meet with the teacher online via Google Meet at 9am. The teacher will set learning tasks to be completed through the day.
Please allow time for messages to come through before calling the school.
Phone calls may not be answered if staff cannot reach the building, though an out‑of‑hours voicemail is available.
Final note
The school will only close when it is not safe or practical to remain open. Every closure decision is made with great care.
