Courage Compassion Creativity
Wow - what a jam packed week. There is so much to celebrate in our little school. We really pride ourselves in being a school where everyone is valued and everyone's talent can shine - whether it be academic, sporting, creative or pastoral - and this week was a true reflection of that.
On Monday, we had the opportunity to celebrate Saturday Nights' Golden Buzzer - including everyone in the experience and giving all of our children the special Golden Confetti Moment. As you can see from the image carousel below, it was such a joyous moment for all of our children. We then headed up to the Green to celebrate with Tom, Mel and the village community to sing and raise the Electric Umbrella flag. A huge thank you to Zoe for literally putting the icing on top of the cake - making delicious treats for everyone to share.
We also celebrated another wonderful achievement this week. On Sunday night, our school choir appeared on stage at The Royal Albert Hall, singing in the Herts Schools' Gala. This year marked the 30th anniversary of the event which brings together school choirs from across the county to celebrate music and explore the ways we interact and connect with music. The group, made up of children from Year 4 to Year 6, sang beautifully - even in such a large space you could hear their voices shine through.
We've also had educational visits, sporting success and storytelling! Throughout all of our visits and interactions with the outside world, our children have conducted themselves in true Sarratt fashion - doing their best to be their best and treating others as they would be treated.
There is so much that mums (and dads) should be proud of this Mother's Day!
Warmest regards,
Nicola O'Hare
Head Teacher

The choir and their families outside the Iconic Royal Albert Hall. Our wonderful singers (Rafi, Jessica, Jemima, Benji, Frank, Archie, Ginny, Amber, Alexa, Sophie, Isla, Iris, Eva and Indy) enjoyed every moment.
On Thursday, our gym teams (Year 2: Bonnie, Ellie, Sienna and Eliana Year 4: Bonnie, Indy, Millie and Freya Year 6: Clara, Alexa, Holly and Maggie) competed against local schools in The Rickmansworth Sports Partnership. All the girls have put in so much hard work over the weeks leading up to the event and it really paid off with wonderful performances all round!
There was extra celebration for the Year 4s who got Bronze in the team event, Year 6 who achieved gold and some individual success for Clara, Maggie and Freya! Well done to everyone involved!
Year 2, 3 and 4 took part in storytelling workshops with Danyah Miller. They used their creativity and imagination to invent new stories and crazy characters! The experience inspired all our children to write their own gripping short stories.
Wow Theo - what a superstar you are! You are working so hard, particularly with your letter formation, phonics and reading - keep it up!
Bethany has shown a determination to succeed, really impressing with her phonics and maths. She also has an amazing sense of humour!
Oliver tries so hard in all subjects, working independently and with determination to succeed. Well done Oliver - keep smiling too!
Aletta has been working incredibly hard in English - using apostrophes for possession and contraction correctly! She is also so helpful in the classroom.
Henry blows us away with his limitless cheer and positive attitude - he makes the classroom a fun place to be! He always has a cheery smile, even when faced with a challenge!
Megan is always polite and helpful. In the playground she is a role model for others - always helping adults and assisting younger children - well done!
Ethan has been using incredible detective skills in RE. He analysed famous paintings then pieced together clues to retell the dramatic and tragic events of Easter week.
We are excited to launch our Sarratt School PTA Lottery with Parentkind, The Parents Lottery. Sarratt School Lottery
Each £1 ticket also gives you the chance to win £25,000 every Friday along with a selection of other prizes.
The Parents Lottery is a simple yet powerful way for parents, grandparents, friends and neighbours to come together to support our school. We are currently fundraising to purchase the remaining Smart Board Screens needed in school along with an additional set of Chromebooks for the school so more of our children can benefit from high quality regular access to digital technology.
Thank you so much for your ongoing support - it is very much appreciated.

Punctuality
The beginning of the day is an important time in school. Please ensure that children are in school by 8.45am when the gates close.
Snacks and Water
Make sure your child comes to school with a water bottle each day. Children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are provided with a snack in the morning. Children in KS2 can bring a fruit or vegetable snack to school for playtime.
Medication
If your child needs additional medication, please fill in this form and drop it into the school office.
Request for school to administer medication form
Health and Safety
The climbing frames are out of bounds before and after school. When entering the school via the main gates, please use the path to the side of the carpark. Please park considerately and turn-engines off when dropping off and picking up.
We would like to politely remind all to not walk through the school staff car park at any time. For safety reasons please use the designated side pavement, it is a working car park and can therefore be potentially dangerous
Please do not let children run or play in the school car park.
Uniform
On non-PE days, children must come to school in full uniform including black school shoes or boots (not UGG Boots). On wet/ icy days, children can bring a change of footwear for school if necessary. Please ensure your child has an outdoor jacket everyday. We always aim to have the children outside as much as possible during playtime and lunchtime.
School Shoes
We have noticed an increasing number of children wearing trainers to school. While we do permit shoe style all black trainers as we recognise these can be a more affordable option, we do not permit black trainers such as baseball or running trainers. See images below for clarification.
Online Safety is an important part of keeping children safe from harm.
We have security measures in place in school, which are constantly reviewed, to help safeguard pupils from any potential dangers. Online Safety is taught to all pupils explaining and demonstrating how to stay safe and behave appropriately online.
We can only be successful in keeping children safe online if we work with you to ensure the e-safety message is consistent. Your help is needed to talk to your children about how they can keep safe and behave appropriately online.
Children are accessing a greater amount of content online, than we were ever exposed to in our childhood. Children can accidently or deliberately be exposed to unwanted or unpleasant content or comments online and there are steps you can take at home to minimise this risk.
The NSPCC provide guidance on how to protect children online for parents including setting controls, talking to your child and how to report concerns.

New Statutory Guidance regarding unauthorised absence and Penalty Notice Fines.
Good attendance starts at primary school - children who have attendance of 97% or above achieve better outcomes in school and have the best opportunities in their adult life.
If your child misses school regularly, this will affect friendships as well as academic outcomes. It can be hard for a child who misses lots of school to form and maintain relationships with their classmates.
Being on time is also vital. Arriving late at school can be very disruptive for your child, their teacher and the other children in the class.
Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow!
We have always prided ourselves on being an open and approachable school and believe that good communication with our families is important to the success of our school.
Class Whatsapp groups are a valuable platform for parents to share information, particularly for those families who are new to the school and have limited opportunities to interact in the playground. If you have any questions or concerns regarding any area of school life or would like to share important information regarding your child, we would ask you to speak to the school directly. There are very clear channels available for doing this, outlined on the parent information pages of our website. We are always here to listen and will endeavour to address any issues quickly and effectively.
Below is the link to the list of who to contact should you need any information about a specific area of school life. Should you wish to raise any questions or concerns directly regarding your child, the class teacher is always the first point of contact. If you have spoken to the class teacher but feel the issue is not resolved or should you require further information, then please make an appointment to see the Phase Leader – Mrs Whittaker for Reception and KS1 children and Mrs Serby for KS2 children.
We are teaming up again with the wonderful storyteller, Danyah Miller. She is back in school at the end of the Spring term, working with different year groups to create spontaneous stories.
In addition, we have the wonderful opportunity to see her brand new show - The Mystery Of The Old Town Hall... when it comes to The Old Town Hall in Hemel Hempsted on Saturday 12th April at 2pm. With a 20% discount, there is no reason not to go and see this amazing performance. Mrs Serby has seen it twice already and both shows were completely unique! There is plenty of audience participation and the mystery can only be solved with your help.
To claim 20% off, bookers just need to enter the promo code 'MYSTERY' at the check out when buying tickets via The Old Town Hall's website: https://oldtownhall.co.uk/events/the-mystery-of-the-old-town-hall
