Courage Compassion Creativity

Dear Families,

It's been a chilly week here in school so to keep warm (and fit!) Mrs Goldspring and the team have been getting stuck in to lots of fabulous PE and Sport. We've had yoga, dance, hockey, swimming and an extra bench dodgeball session for our victorious Y5 class after winning the World Cup Draw! We've been taking part in local tournaments too with our Y5/6 netball team competing on Tuesday and our Year 4 class taking part in indoor athletics. All children did a wonderful job of representing the school, showing the Sarratt Way - Doing their Best to be their Best and Treating Others as they would be Treated! Well done teams!

On Thursday, the whole school took part in a Christingle Service led by Ian from Holy Cross Church. In class the children learnt all about the significance of Christingle and our youngest children had a go and making one! A big thank you went to the Church for supplying all of the oranges, candles and sweets.

Warmest regards,

Nicola O'Hare

Head of School

Attendance

Message sent to all schools from the DFE this month:

UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) advice remains clear that children can continue to attend as normal unless they are unwell and have a high temperature. Further information on when a child is too ill for school or nursery is available. There is no requirement to be absent from school on a precautionary basis. School staff should continue to maintain their high expectations for face-to-face attendance.

Good attendance starts at primary school - children who have attendance of 97% or above achieve better outcomes in school and have the best opportunities in their adult life.

If you child misses school regularly, this will affect friendships as well as academic outcomes. It can be hard for a child who misses lots of school to form and maintain relationships with their classmates.

Being on time is also vital. Arriving late at school can be very disruptive for your child, their teacher and the other children in the class.

Attend Today, Achieve Tomorrow!

Community News

Message from Saracens Community department:

As you may be aware we have our big fixture, The Showdown 3 in March at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, against Harlequins. For anyone that hasn’t attended one of our Big Games before - it is way more than 80 minutes of world class rugby; the show before, during and after the game will be fantastic fun and a great experience to share. Here's a sneak peak of what we have in store - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XkUk5xum8AU

As a thank you for your ongoing support for the club we would like to offer your pupils, staff, friends and families a promotional discount code to purchase tickets for the match.

It is such an awesome family day out and Spurs is an incredible stadium. We will also have all of our England internationals playing (subject to injury) and there is a raft of entertainment planned.

Everyone can purchase tickets anywhere in the stadium but if you wanted to sit with all the other clubs and schools then it is best to buy tickets in the South Stand.

The 23 schools or clubs that sell the most tickets will have their logo put onto one of the 23 matchday shirts and then presented with this shirt.

Tickets start from £15.75 for U16 and £31.50 for adults.

Please see all the details below:

Watford FC Community Trust Competition

We are excited to be celebrating Children’s Mental Health Week 2023 which will take place from 6th-12th February 2023. This year’s theme is Let’s Connect!

To raise awareness and help make a difference to the lives of children and young people across the UK we are connecting with schools to offer an exciting competition.

We are asking children to design a t-shirt supporting Children’s mental week using this year’s theme as inspiration. The winning design will be printed and worn by Watford FC Women at their home game against Ipswich Town Women during their pre match warm up on Sunday 5th February. Along with this, the designer of the winning entry will be invited to the game to see their t-shirt design in action.

When designing your t-shirt be sure to use all the space provided, make it eye-catching – we want to be able to see it from every seat in the stadium! Include your name, school and year group along with your entry.

All entries much be returned by 27th January to Nicola.Burton@watfordfc.com

Good Luck!

The aim is to offer attendees the knowledge and ability to be an important part of supporting a loved one.

Please ensure your child has an outdoor jacket everyday. We always aim to have the children outside as much as possible during playtime and lunchtime.

The climbing frames are out of bounds before and after school.

Communication

We have always prided ourselves on being an open and approachable school and believe that good communication with our families is important to the success of our school.

Class Whatsapp groups are a valuable platform for parents to share information, particularly for those families who are new to the school and have limited opportunities to interact in the playground. If you have any questions or concerns regarding any area of school life or would like to share important information regarding your child, we would ask you to speak to the school directly. There are very clear channels available for doing this, outlined on the parent information pages of our website. We are always here to listen and will endeavour to address any issues quickly and effectively.

Below is the link to the list of who to contact should you need any information about a specific area of school life. Should you wish to raise any questions or concerns directly regarding your child, the class teacher is always the first point of contact. If you have spoken to the class teacher but feel the issue is not resolved or should you require further information, then please make an appointment to see the Phase Leader – Mrs Whittaker for Reception and KS1 children and Mrs Dames for KS2 children.

Uniform Exchange

One of our wonderful parents has set up a Facebook page to exchange uniform items that are no longer needed. If your child has outgrown their uniform or you are looking for additional items then this is the place for you. click on the link below to go to the page. Please contact the school office for more details.
