Courage Compassion Creativity
We’ve had a truly fantastic Ancient Civilisations Day in KS2! Each class embraced their history curriculum with creativity and enthusiasm, arriving dressed to reflect their chosen era. Year 3 transformed into wild and wonderful prehistoric cavemen, Year 4 stepped back in time as dignified Ancient Romans, Year 5 dazzled as bejewelled Ancient Egyptians (with a few mummies making an appearance!), and Year 6 brought colour and flair as striking Day of the Dead Mexicans.
Throughout the day, the children were immersed in enrichment activities—exploring customs, traditions, and the fascinating stories behind each civilisation. It was a joy to see their curiosity and excitement come to life!
We were also delighted to welcome Mr Gould, Director of Education for the Diocese and former Trust CEO, who joined us to experience the day and view the progress of our exciting site transformation. It was a pleasure to share such a vibrant moment in our school calendar with him.
Highlights from the day can be found below, and we’ll also be sharing more with the wider community on Instagram—see more details below.
Wishing you all a restful and joyful weekend! For all those supporting the PTA Bingo Night tonight, we hope you have a wonderful evening!
Warmest regards,
Nicola O'Hare
Head Teacher
P.S. Don’t forget to follow our Instagram for the latest updates on school activities!
Thank you for all the thoughtful feedback we’ve received about our Sarratt School Instagram account. It was truly heartwarming to read your comments about the joy it brings to families and the wider community.
We also recognise that every family has a unique perspective when it comes to social media sharing. With that in mind, we’d like to take this opportunity to once again share some key information about how we manage and safeguard our school account.
We’re pleased to say that we’ve now received photo consent forms from the vast majority of families. If you haven’t yet had a chance to complete yours, the link is included below for your convenience.
Purpose and Vision
Our Public Instagram account serves as a dynamic platform to celebrate the life of the school, showcase achievements, and communicate with the wider community. It aligns with our commitment to transparency, engagement, and community partnership.
It is also in line with many of our local primary schools including: St Pauls Chipperfield, Bovingdon Primary, Chorleywood Primary, Yorke Mead Primary, Little Green Junior School, Arnett Hills Primary and our MAT partnership schools St Marys Rickmansworth and Christchurch Chorleywood.
Key Benefits of a Public Account
🌍 Wider Community Engagement A public account allows prospective parents, local organisations, and educational partners to gain insight into the school’s ethos, activities, and learning environment—supporting community cohesion and school reputation.
📢 Visibility and Promotion Public posts help promote school events, initiatives, and successes beyond the immediate parent body. This visibility can support fundraising, partnerships, and recruitment efforts.
🎓 Educational Value Sharing classroom activities and projects publicly can foster pride among pupils and staff, while modelling responsible digital citizenship and positive online presence.
🔗 Accessibility A public account removes barriers to access—families without Instagram accounts or those unfamiliar with private group settings can still view updates via web browsers.
Safeguarding and Privacy Measures
To ensure pupil safety and privacy, the school implements strict protocols:
No full names or identifying details are shared.
Only images of children with parental consent are posted. Parents are contacted at the beginning of each academic year to complete consent forms.
Posts are reviewed by designated safeguarding leads.
Additional consent is sought for any individual recognition.
Comments and interactions are monitored and moderated.
Policy and Review
The account is governed by the school’s Social Media and Online Safety Policies, which are reviewed annually in consultation with safeguarding leads and digital education specialists.

Here are our first two entries from Reception Class this year - congratulations Noah and Teddy!
Noah is demonstrating kindness, creativity and unwavering support towards all his friends!
Teddy is always trying his best, making good choices and being ready for learning!
Harper-Rose is growing on confidence everyday and showing a positive attitude to learning. She is answering questions in group learning sessions and is expanding her friendship circle - well done Harper-Rose!
Ava is ALWAYS trying her best, using her manners and being respectful to others. Ava was the first person nominated by her classmates for a Friend Award, and I can certainly see why!
Sophie has made a very impressive Stone Age Diorama, showing great resilience when her pit house kept falling down. Luckily she didn't give up and the end result is fabulous!
Lara gets enthused about all areas of school life - even maths tests! She is filled with positivity and displays a wonderful growth mindset.
