Courage Compassion Creativity

Dear Families,

What a wonderful last week of term we have had! With a magical Nativity from the Lower School and a stunning Festival of Seasonal Music from KS2, it's been a week to remember. It's all set to end on a high tomorrow with our annual Panto visit!

We are aiming to set off at 9.15am so please make sure children arrive at school by 8.50am with their coat, water bottle and (unless pre-ordered) a small lunch in a disposable bag. All things running smoothly, we should arrive back at 1.30pm ready for the end of the day at 2pm. Miss Preswell will be back at basecamp throughout the day to keep you up to date if there are any changes. If your child has been unwell and is absent from school, please do not rush them back to attend. Although we understand they may be disappointed in missing the show, we must ensure that others are not exposed to infection.

Thank you again for all of your support in raising the funds through SPA events to make this possible.

We hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and a fabulous New Year. We look forward to seeing you on Thursday 5th January.

Warmest (festive) regards,

Nicola O'Hare

Head of School

Thank You Mrs Atkinson - we will miss you!

Mrs Atkinson, our fabulous Reception teacher, is leaving us this Christmas to start a new life up in Leeds with her family. She has given our youngest children a wonderful start to their Sarratt School journey and the whole team wish her the very best of luck in her new adventure.

In January, we welcome a new member of staff to our Sarratt team - Mrs Olivato is an experienced Early Years teacher and leader. She has been in to meet the team and is looking forward to welcoming all the children back to school in the New Year with Mrs Lee.

Wellbeing and Family Support

If your child or teenager is feeling low, anxious, or generally struggling, there are lots of services available to help them all year round. Please always encourage them to talk and ask for help if they need it.

The services listed on Just Talk’s webpage are all free and don’t need a professional referral, so they can be contacted directly by young people and/or their parents/carers. Services listed include Hertfordshire’s new With YOUth Digital Wellbeing Service for ages 5-18, parents and carers and many more, so please take a look: www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/mentalhealthsupportforhertsyoungpeople

Please ensure your child has an outdoor jacket everyday. We always aim to have the children outside as much as possible during playtime and lunchtime.

The climbing frames are out of bounds before and after school.

Communication

We have always prided ourselves on being an open and approachable school and believe that good communication with our families is important to the success of our school.

Class Whatsapp groups are a valuable platform for parents to share information, particularly for those families who are new to the school and have limited opportunities to interact in the playground. If you have any questions or concerns regarding any area of school life or would like to share important information regarding your child, we would ask you to speak to the school directly. There are very clear channels available for doing this, outlined on the parent information pages of our website. We are always here to listen and will endeavour to address any issues quickly and effectively.

Below is the link to the list of who to contact should you need any information about a specific area of school life. Should you wish to raise any questions or concerns directly regarding your child, the class teacher is always the first point of contact. If you have spoken to the class teacher but feel the issue is not resolved or should you require further information, then please make an appointment to see the Phase Leader – Mrs Whittaker for Reception and KS1 children and Mrs Dames for KS2 children.

Uniform Exchange

One of our wonderful parents has set up a Facebook page to exchange uniform items that are no longer needed. If your child has outgrown their uniform or you are looking for additional items then this is the place for you. click on the link below to go to the page. Please contact the school office for more details.
