Sarratt School Newsletter
Courage Compassion Creativity
Dear Families,
This week really made me appreciate what a fabulous school I am part of. The children and staff were all wonderful during our Ofsted visit - I could not ask for anything more of the whole school team! Thank you to everyone who completed the Parent view questionnaire and also for the words of support that you shared with staff - we are truly grateful. Thank you to our wonderful, supportive governors too - your surprise went down a storm with the children and staff (as you can see from the photos below).
It will be a few weeks before we receive and are able to share the inspection report. As a section 8 inspection, the visit determines whether the school continues to provide a 'Good' standard of education.
Next week, we are looking forward to Sports Days, Skipping Workshops and a visit from a GB gymnast! Before all this, we would like to wish our fantastic Sarratt School Swim Team - Tom, Henry, Ivy, Dani and Gemma - the very best of luck tomorrow at the ESSA National Final in Sheffield. The whole school is behind you - you are amazing!
Warmest regards,
Nicola O'Hare
Head of School
Good Luck Swim Team 2023!

Sports Day
Dear Parents/Carers
Sports Day - It’s that time of year, when we hope for sunny weather and get our sports kit out!
We are looking forward to seeing you all on the :

Thursday 22nd June at 9.15am for our Years 1/2/3 Sports Day
Friday 23rd June at 9.15am for our Years 4/5/6 Sports Day
When you arrive on the day, you will be welcomed on the school gates by a member of staff and then directed to the designated area. Gates will open at 9.15am and the morning's fun will begin at 9.25am when all the children are settled in their house groups. We ask that you leave the site after drop off and return at 9.15am. The green gates will need to be locked at 8.50am for registration.
During the activities, the children will keep their water bottles with them so they can stay hydrated at all times. Please make sure your child has a named water bottle.
If any visitors need the toilet at any time during the afternoon, please go to the main office.
Photographs may be taken of your own child during the afternoon although we ask that they must not be posted on any social media. The staff will be taking pictures which will be shared in the weekly newsletter. If you bring any younger siblings with you, please can you ask them to stay off the climbing frame and tyres for health and safety reasons.
Children are invited to wear their house colours with pride on the day. Lime is green, Cherry is red, Oak is yellow and Willow is blue. Your child should know their house team colour but if you have any queries please ask.
If we are unfortunate and the weather lets us down, the reserve days will be the following week on the same days, at the same time.
We look forward to seeing you all there!

Please ensure your child has an outdoor jacket everyday. We always aim to have the children outside as much as possible during playtime and lunchtime.
The climbing frames are out of bounds before and after school.
Communication
We have always prided ourselves on being an open and approachable school and believe that good communication with our families is important to the success of our school.
Class Whatsapp groups are a valuable platform for parents to share information, particularly for those families who are new to the school and have limited opportunities to interact in the playground. If you have any questions or concerns regarding any area of school life or would like to share important information regarding your child, we would ask you to speak to the school directly. There are very clear channels available for doing this, outlined on the parent information pages of our website. We are always here to listen and will endeavour to address any issues quickly and effectively.
Below is the link to the list of who to contact should you need any information about a specific area of school life. Should you wish to raise any questions or concerns directly regarding your child, the class teacher is always the first point of contact. If you have spoken to the class teacher but feel the issue is not resolved or should you require further information, then please make an appointment to see the Phase Leader – Mrs Whittaker for Reception and KS1 children and Mrs Serby for KS2 children.
Online Safety
Uniform Exchange
One of our wonderful parents has set up a Facebook page to exchange uniform items that are no longer needed. If your child has outgrown their uniform or you are looking for additional items then this is the place for you. click on the link below to go to the page. Please contact the school office for more details.
Attendance
DFE advice:
UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) advice remains clear that children can continue to attend as normal unless they are unwell and have a high temperature. Further information on when a child is too ill for school or nursery is available. There is no requirement to be absent from school on a precautionary basis. School staff should continue to maintain their high expectations for face-to-face attendance.
Good attendance starts at primary school - children who have attendance of 97% or above achieve better outcomes in school and have the best opportunities in their adult life.
If you child misses school regularly, this will affect friendships as well as academic outcomes. It can be hard for a child who misses lots of school to form and maintain relationships with their classmates.
Being on time is also vital. Arriving late at school can be very disruptive for your child, their teacher and the other children in the class.
