Courage Compassion Creativity
This week, our school was buzzing with excitement as pupils from every year group took part in Science Week—a celebration of curiosity, creativity, and the joy of scientific thinking. Classrooms were alive with hands‑on investigations, lively discussions, and plenty of “What if…?” moments as children explored the world around them through a scientific lens.
A key focus throughout the week was encouraging pupils to ask questions, think critically, and approach problems with an open and inquisitive mind. Whether predicting outcomes, observing changes, or debating ideas with classmates, every child had the chance to experience what it truly means to think like a scientist.
One of the highlights of the week was our whole‑school STEM challenge. Pupils were tasked with designing and constructing a plant made entirely from paper—with no tools and no adhesive materials allowed! This demanded creative engineering, careful planning, and plenty of perseverance as children experimented with folding, twisting, layering, and slotting pieces together to bring their imaginative botanical creations to life.
Thank you to all pupils and staff, led by Mrs Whittaker, for making Science Week such an engaging and inspiring event. The energy, curiosity, and enthusiasm shown throughout the week remind us that science is not just a subject—it’s a way of understanding and exploring the world.
Warmest regards,

World Downs Syndrome day is on Saturday 21st March.
This year Year 1 will be marking the occasion by taking part in the Downs Syndrome UK's Sunflower challenge by planting and growing sunflowers.
Sunflowers have been chosen because they represent everyone blooming in their own unique way. This day is all about celebrating individuality, kindness and inclusion - all qualities that are highly valued at Sarratt.
We would like to celebrate this as a whole school on Friday 20th March with everyone wearing bright and colourful socks. They can be odd socks so that we can have as many different socks in school as possible. We would like the whole school to 'rock your socks'
If you would like to donate to the Downs Syndrome UK charity please visit the website or scan the QR code on the poster which will also be displayed at the hatch in the school office.

We kindly ask parents not to park on the grass alongside the pavement on the route from school towards Dawes Lane. Unfortunately, this area has recently been damaged by deep tyre tracks.
Please note that this grass verge is owned by the Parish Council and is not public land, so we must ensure it is treated with care.
Thank you for your support in helping us look after our local environment.
