Courage Compassion Creativity
In our first full week of the new school year, we have been reflecting on Our School Values and Our Sarratt Way - the two rules which guide us in our school. We always aim to 'Treat Others as we would be Treated' and strive to 'Do Our Best to be Our Best'. It's been wonderful to see the children respond to our high expectations and rise to the challenge - being courteous and kind to their peers and working hard in the classroom.
It has also been wonderful to see the many new children who join us this year settling into their new environments including our new Reception class who had a wonderful time in their first PE lesson this week!
It's great to be back in school!
Warmest regards,
Nicola O'Hare
Head Teacher

Hi, Alf and I have signed up to take part in Poppy Walk London 2024.
By taking part in this walk I'll be raising funds to support the Royal British Legion.
The Royal British Legion was founded to help those in need following a national crisis. Right now they are helping those who are isolated from family, facing homelessness, struggling to feed their children and are in financial crisis. They are working tirelessly to ensure that those who have served are being looked after no matter what challenges they, and the country faces.
Your donation will mean they can continue to provide the life-changing support that our Armed Forces community needs and deserves. Thank you.

Millie and Bonnie in Year 4 were busy over the Summer holidays baking cupcakes, making pink lemonade and organising cake sales in Sarratt and Flaunden on two separate occasions. Together they raised £132 and decided to give 50% of the proceeds to Mrs Bailey’s charity, MND Association. Well done Millie and Bonnie - you are superstars!
Thank you to everyone who has donated so far!
Every year we send a request for donations towards your child’s education. These additional funds are essential in enabling us to provide the best possible learning experience for your child.
The suggested donation is £10 per term per child (paid annually or in installments), however additional funds are always welcomed. Donations are made through the Parentmail Payments System.
Thank you in advance for your support.
Hertfordshire Heroes is encouraging all Key Stage 2 pupils in Hertfordshire to take part in our annual Christmas Art Competition by 25 November 2024. This year, we invite children to create artwork to bring cheer to military personnel for their chance to win a day of adventure hosted by the UK military’s operational headquarters, Northwood HQ. A winner will be chosen from each year group in Key Stage 2. The theme this year is honouring the 80th anniversary of D-Day.
The artwork will be shared with those serving in the Armed Forces who are working away from their families at Christmas to help bring them some cheer.
For more information including details on how to enter and further guidance, please visit www.hertfordshireheroes.org/christmasart. For online submissions, please use SchoolsFX if sending multiple files.
New Statutory Guidance regarding unauthorised absence and Penalty Notice Fines.
Good attendance starts at primary school - children who have attendance of 97% or above achieve better outcomes in school and have the best opportunities in their adult life.
If your child misses school regularly, this will affect friendships as well as academic outcomes. It can be hard for a child who misses lots of school to form and maintain relationships with their classmates.
Being on time is also vital. Arriving late at school can be very disruptive for your child, their teacher and the other children in the class.

We are seeking to appoint a cheerful, friendly individual to be part of our lunch time team to supervise and support the children during lunch break both in the dining hall and outside on the playground.
You would be required to work Monday to Friday from 11:45 am to 1:15pm. We are particularly interested in candidates with an enthusiasm for play who are willing to use their own initiative to make playtimes fun, enjoyable and safe for children. This role is vital to the smooth running of lunchtimes and to assist children in gaining the skills of independent and co-operative play and their emotional wellbeing.
This post is for 7.5 hours per week, 5 days a week, term time only. £11.59 per hour pro rata.
If you are interested in the position please contact the school office – pop in or give us a call on 01923 262003.
Please do not park on the grass verges around The Green or block the entrance road into the Cricketers. There is a large car park available or use at the King George V Playing Fields, a short walk from the school.

The beginning of the day is an important time in school. Please ensure that children are in school by 8.50am when the gates close.

Request for school to administer medication form
Health and Safety
The climbing frames are out of bounds before and after school. When entering the school via the main gates, please use the path to the side of the carpark. Please park considerately and turn-engines off when dropping off and picking up.
We would like to politely remind all to not walk through the school staff car park at any time. For safety reasons please use the designated side pavement, it is a working car park and can therefore be potentially dangerous
Please do not let children run or play in the school car park.
Uniform
On non-PE days, children must come to school in full uniform including black school shoes or boots (not UGG Boots). On wet/ icy days, children can bring a change of footwear for school if necessary. Please ensure your child has an outdoor jacket everyday. We always aim to have the children outside as much as possible during playtime and lunchtime.
School Shoes
We have noticed an increasing number of children wearing trainers to school. While we do permit shoe style all black trainers as we recognise these can be a more affordable option, we do not permit black trainers such as baseball or running trainers. See images below for clarification.
Online Safety is an important part of keeping children safe from harm.
We have security measures in place in school, which are constantly reviewed, to help safeguard pupils from any potential dangers. Online Safety is taught to all pupils explaining and demonstrating how to stay safe and behave appropriately online.
We can only be successful in keeping children safe online if we work with you to ensure the e-safety message is consistent. Your help is needed to talk to your children about how they can keep safe and behave appropriately online.
Children are accessing a greater amount of content online, than we were ever exposed to in our childhood. Children can accidently or deliberately be exposed to unwanted or unpleasant content or comments online and there are steps you can take at home to minimise this risk.
The NSPCC provide guidance on how to protect children online for parents including setting controls, talking to your child and how to report concerns.

We have always prided ourselves on being an open and approachable school and believe that good communication with our families is important to the success of our school.
Class Whatsapp groups are a valuable platform for parents to share information, particularly for those families who are new to the school and have limited opportunities to interact in the playground. If you have any questions or concerns regarding any area of school life or would like to share important information regarding your child, we would ask you to speak to the school directly. There are very clear channels available for doing this, outlined on the parent information pages of our website. We are always here to listen and will endeavour to address any issues quickly and effectively.
Below is the link to the list of who to contact should you need any information about a specific area of school life. Should you wish to raise any questions or concerns directly regarding your child, the class teacher is always the first point of contact. If you have spoken to the class teacher but feel the issue is not resolved or should you require further information, then please make an appointment to see the Phase Leader – Mrs Whittaker for Reception and KS1 children and Mrs Serby for KS2 children.
