Meeting Logistics
Important Information about the K-band Global Astrometry Workshop at Yebes Observatory:
Workshop Dates and Venue: The workshop will be held at the Yebes Observatory on 18th and 19th September.
Accommodation: Accommodation is available at the Yebes observatory residence for all participants. You can stay for three nights at no charge. Check-in is on Sunday, 17th, and check-out is on Wednesday, 20th (or Tuesday, 19th). Additionally, the swimming pool will be open, and towels and sheets will be provided.
Meals: Yebes Observatory will arrange breakfast, lunch, dinner, and coffee breaks for all participants. The cost is 30 Euro per person, which should be paid in cash upon arrival.
Transport: Please note that there is no public transport available to the observatory. Upon your arrival, you can either take a taxi from Madrid airport to the Yebes Observatory or rent a car. We will coordinate shared taxis or hire cars based on everyone's itineraries. At the end of the workshop, we will arrange the transfer from Yebes Observatory to Alcala for those attending the GGOS days. For those leaving for the airport, we will also organize shared taxis. At some point Cristina and I will ask for your travel plans to arrange these transfers efficiently.
Other Meetings/Trips: If you plan to attend all or part of the GGOS days, please register at the following link:
You can find the relevant information for planning that part of your trip on the provided website.
Furthermore, Chris is offering to organize a trip/visit to the DSN and ESA sites for interested participants. This will likely take place on Friday, 15th September, requiring your arrival in Madrid on Thursday, 14th. You will need to arrange your own accommodation in Madrid for the 14th, 15th, and 16th. Contact Chris directly if you wish to join.
Meeting Agenda
Workshop Details: The K-band Global Astrometry Workshop will occur on Monday, 18th, and Tuesday, 19th of September. Telecon facilities will be available for remote attendees
Celebrations: To commemorate the 21 years since the first K-band CRF observations and the 10 years of the current K-band collaboration, we plan to have cake during coffee break on Monday.
Agenda:
Monday Overview: The workshop will be opened by Pablo de Vicente, Director of the Yebes Observatory, on Monday. This will be followed by Cristina's overview talk about the Yebes Observatory. Next, there will be a K-band CRF overview talk, which will include the Yebes Observatory staff. A coffee break will be provided, followed by a 45-minute tour and walk-about of the Yebes Observatory. The remainder of the day will be dedicated to K-band talks and discussions.
Tuesday Overview: Tuesday will be dedicated to further K-band talks and discussions.
