Florentine calcium is a primitive form of football originating in the 16th century in Italy. Florence's Piazza Santa Croce is the cradle of this sport, which began as gioco del calcio fiorentino ('Florentine soccer game') or simply calcio ('soccer').

Teams 54 participants face each other in two teams of 27 players. Each team has 5 goalkeepers. Scoring Players have to carry the ball to the end line of the opponent's field and score the goal with their hands or feet.

The game consists of scoring goals in a kind of cage that is located at the ends of the Santa Croce square, in a field that measures 80 meters long by 40 meters wide. Of course, the one with the most points or cacce scores using their feet and hands wins.
