ABOUT THE LIBRARY


Our Library is founded by Taraben Dhirajlal Mohanlal Shah. It is established on 7th October 1984. It was renovated into a fully A/C library after the College got “A” grade with 3.03 CGPA in March 2017. The library renovation work was going on from 1st May 2017. And the inauguration was done on 14th October 2017 . 

Objective of the library is "to spread awareness about the learning resources among the students by means of various services through curricular, co-curricular, extra-curricular, developmental and regular services and activities."

Best Practices of DTSS Library

Best practices in our library help tremendously in achieving above objective. Best practice in simple term known as the practice which pave the way for enhancing the existing function and help in effective implementation or use of the process. All of the highlighted practices here are experimented in our library in optimizing the use of library and information services and students development.


We provide day to day support to ensure a customer - focused, proactive service and also contribute to new developments to continually improve the library services. Its resources and services are aimed at providing the research and teaching support to all the courses (Aided and Un-aided) of the College. 

The Library's collection is reviewed every year in order to be relevant to the syllabus and the areas of Study & research.

We use the software "LIBMAN" by MASTERSOFT since September 2022. 

For classification we use 22nd Edition of Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme and Online Catalogue of Library of Congress (OCLC). 

Cataloguing  : Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules-II  (AACR-II).

All the books & audio visual material are bar-coded. We use Zebra TLP 2844 barcode printer for bar-code printing.

It has a Total Collection of 61,425 Books (as on 01.11.2023) - Text Books and Reference Books for all Programs.  At present the Library is subscribing to total 54 periodicals including Newspapers. 10 E-Journals, 26 Journals + Magazines and 18 Daily Newspapers in 4 languages.
