What is Academic Honesty and Integrity?
San Miguel School asks all of its students to practice sincere efforts in demonstrating his/her potential when submitting work. Our God calls us to act with integrity. Integrity is a character-driven commitment to honesty, doing what is right, and guiding others to do what is right. "...for we aim at what is honorable not only in the Lord's sight but also in the sight of man." 2 Corinthians 8:21
Academic dishonesty falls into five broad areas that include but are not limited to:
Cheating on an academic evaluation or assignment.
Copying someone else's work and taking credit as your own.
Allowing someone to copy your work.
Falsifying academic records.
In practicing academic honesty and integrity, a San Miguel student is demonstrating the school's SLEs. SMS students are Academic Champs who work through challenges and set goals to succeed. They are Model Citizens who influence others to show good character and demonstrate responsible actions at all times.

La Escuela San Miguel les pide a todos sus estudiantes que practiquen esfuerzos sinceros para demostrar su potencial cuando presenten su trabajo. Nuestro Dios nos llama a actuar con integridad. La integridad es un compromiso de carácter basado en la honestidad, hacer lo correcto y guiar a otros a hacer lo correcto. "... porque apuntamos a lo que es honorable no solo a la vista del Señor sino también a la vista del hombre." 2 Corintios 8:21
La deshonestidad académica se divide en cinco áreas amplias que incluyen, entre otras:
Hacer trampa en una evaluación o tarea académica.
Plagio
Copiar el trabajo de otra persona y tomar el crédito como suyo.
Permitir que alguien copie tu trabajo.
Falsificación de expedientes académicos.
Al practicar la honestidad e integridad académica, un estudiante de San Miguel está demostrando los SLEs de la escuela. Los estudiantes de SMS son campeones académicos que trabajan a través de desafíos y establecen metas para tener éxito. Son ciudadanos modelos que influyen en los demás para mostrar buen carácter y demostrar acciones responsables en todo momento.

We, the parents/guardians of San Miguel School, pledge to assist our child in maintaining academic honesty and integrity.
We promise to allow our child to work through challenges.
Working through challenges is when "learning" and "growing" occur. Sometimes this may seem overwhelming, but children learn to overcome challenges by using various strategies.
We promise to guide our child in managing his/her time effectively.
Often times students result to cheating when time has run out. When a student uses their time efficiently, they will have time to seek assistance from the teacher.
We promise to talk to our child about the importance of academic honesty and integrity.
The more we speak with our children and help them understand the importance of being truthful in our words and our actions, the less likely they will result to dishonest behavior. It is important that children understand that there are consequences for inappropriate actions.

Prometemos permitir que nuestro hijo supere los desafíos.
Trabajar a través de los desafíos es cuando ocurre el "aprendizaje" y el "crecimiento". A veces esto puede parecer abrumador, pero los niños aprenden a superar los desafíos mediante el uso de diversas estrategias.
Prometemos guiar a nuestro hijo en la gestión eficaz de su tiempo.
Muchas veces los estudiantes hacen trampa cuando el tiempo se acaba. Cuando un estudiante usa su tiempo eficientemente, tendrá tiempo para buscar ayuda del maestro.
Prometemos hablar con nuestro hijo sobre la importancia de la honestidad e integridad académica.
Cuanto más hablemos con nuestros hijos y les ayudemos a comprender la importancia de ser sinceros en nuestras palabras y nuestras acciones, es menos probable que resulten en un comportamiento deshonesto. Es importante que los niños entiendan que hay consecuencias por acciones inapropiadas.
