In January of this year, “All of Us Are Dead”, a Korean drama (K-Drama), became the #1 streamed on Netflix. One theme that is prevalent in the whole of the series is all about survival. Each of the episodes features how these high school students think of clever ways to prolong their lives and not get bitten by any zombies while thinking of ways to survive and make it every day. They think of ways wherein they would be able to outsmart the zombies and how to survive daily. An analogy can be made with this survival instinct of the students. The survival instinct can also be likened to any college student or Ruizian’s way of how to survive in today’s online class setup.
Two years into the pandemic and the Ruizian community is still doing the online class setup. And much like in the series, students and sometimes even faculty are barely surviving. Their physical and mental health needs to be checked, too. With the same routine that the students have grown accustomed to in the past two years, they need to be refreshed as to what they need to do for them to continue surviving. And here are some ways to survive the many stresses of college life:
Physical Health Tips:
Take a break in between online classes by remembering to stretch and stand up.
Never miss a meal, even if classes are still on the online setup.
Have an adequate amount of sleep.
Mental Health Tips:
If you are getting overwhelmed, make sure that you take a 10–15-minute pause to reassess your tasks.
Make sure that you still have enough time to enjoy a healthy mental break by splurging on your hobbies.
Social media detox is also one thing you can do to ease stress.
A healthy body and mind are what students need, especially in this struggling time of the pandemic. Surviving in a zombie apocalypse is similar to surviving their daily toils as warriors, and tried and tested tips are a sure way of increasing their chances of success this semester – similar to defeating a horde of zombies that outnumber them.
