We will explore culture, content, language used to conduct class in Spanish and the Super 7 Verbs.

(Most any idea can be expressed with these verbs.)
estar = to be (location)
haber = there is/are (existence)
tener = to have(possession)
ser = to be (identity)
gustar = to like (preference)
ir = to go (motion)
querer = to want (volition)
How will we explore?
We will play, sing, listen and talk, in all grade levels. Starting in third grade we will also begin to read and write.

What can a novice* student do with language?
From the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) Benchmarks
"Interpretive Communication: identify the general topic and some basic information in both very familiar and everyday contexts by recognizing practiced or memorized words, phrases, and simple sentences in texts that are spoken, or written.
Interpersonal Communication: communicate in spontaneous spoken, written, or signed conversations on both very familiar and everyday topics, using a variety of practiced or memorized words, phrases, simple sentences, and questions.
Presentational Communication: present information on both very familiar and everyday topics using a variety of practiced or memorized words, phrases, and simple sentences through spoken, or written language."
*Novice is a term used by ACTFL to describe beginning learners' language abilities (proficiency). There are benchmarks for each level of language proficiency. The benchmarks are divided into three categories of communication skills: Interpretive Communication, Interpersonal Communication, and Presentational Communication.
