9th Grade IS students will use a reader's notebook. In your reader's notebook, you will be tracking your reading habits throughout the semester.

Pages 4 - 9
In this section of your notebook you will:
Determine your weekly goal of pages to be read.
Track how many pages you successfully read.
Keep a library of books you have successfully read.
Reading Rate and Goal Setting
This document will be used at the beginning of the year to determine how many pages you can read in an hour. With your hourly read speed, we will calculate how many books you should be able to read per semester.
Reading Log
On this document you will record your reading each week. At the end of each week, you will add up the total number of pages you have read and compare your outcome to what was predicted.

In this section of the notebook you will:
Complete a weekly assignment based on your reading for the week.
Give a quarterly assessment of your reading habits.
Complete reading-based projects and assignments
Instructions:
From the list of 36 responses, you will choose one response that you have not chosen this year. You will write a thoughtful and well-supported answer to the writing prompt.
Write your response in the Reading Section of your notebook (Pages 11-70).
The response should be based on your reading for this week.

You will take a step back and look at what you have accomplished as a reader in order to measure progress and set new goals for yourself.
You will work through answering the 5 questions of the Independent Reading Self-Assessment as thoroughly and thoughtfully as possible.

This section of your notebook is where you will write reflections of your learning each day.
The goal of this section is to get you to think about yourself as a learner with goals to achieve
Instructions:
At the end of each class, you will reflect on what you learned that day. You will write a response detailing your learning.
Choose one of the questions from the "Levels of Reflection" handout to answer as completely as possible. Answer the question in a way that makes clear which question you are answering.
Clearly label each response with the Date and day of the week.
Please put a space between each response to make the individual responses easy to find.
