Dear Students and Families,

I am so excited to be your 8th Grade Science teacher this school year!  Here is a little bit of background about my schooling and interests.  I have served as a teacher in San Juan Unified for over 20 years.  For the first half of my career, I worked as a high school science teacher, where I taught Biology, Chemistry, AP Biology, Integrated Sciences and AVID. This is my 10th year at Winston Churchill Middle School, where I have enjoyed teaching Physical Science.

I have earned both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Science.  I am a proud UC Davis Aggie, where I graduated with my Bachelor's of Science in Environmental Biology.  I continued my graduate education at Sacramento State University, where I completed my Master's thesis on the swimming dynamics of hatchery and wild-born Chinook salmon in the American River.  Ultimately, I am a science NERD (and I am proud of it)!

In my spare time, I love to travel, hike, spend time with my family, watch my daughter play soccer and read.  My son graduated from high school in June of 2023.  My daughter is set to graduate this coming June of 2024.  I also love to learn and have always found Science to be the most fascinating subject.

I look forward to an exciting school year and I hope you learn a lot and make wonderful memories learning science in Room 11.
