The USD School of Engineering was founded in 1987. 24 years later, in 2011, our Society of Women Engineers Chapter at USD was founded. Since then, we have grown the chapter from ~20 active members to 70 active members.
When the conference scholarships began, only 4-5 students could be sent on scholarship. Now, we are sending on average 24-30 students on full travel, registration, and lodging scholarships.
Our purpose of the Society of Women Engineers at USD is to lead professional development and curate an empowering community for women and the broader engineering community.
