I am the youngest of three children, raised in a loving family. I consider myself blessed for all the love I received growing up. I have the best memories of my childhood and adolescence. I left home at age seventeen to pursue my education in the USA.
I moved to a small campus town in Illinois called Champagne Urbana. After taking two cold harsh winter there, I decided to move to San Diego which I have made home for all my adult years. I completed my undergraduate work in Psychology at SDSU. I also pursued my graduate work in Public Health with a focus in Maternal and Child Health.
Upon completing my Master’s Degree, I got married and I have two beautiful adult children. My son is an attorney and practices cooperate law in San Diego and my daughter is working on her doctoral dissertation in Clinical Chemistry.
I discovered my passion for teaching after my children were born, and I decided to pursue my teaching credential. I started my teaching career with San Diego Unified in 1998. I have taught in many different capacities. I started teaching as a Homebound Teacher in Home/Hospital program.
My next teaching assignment was at Madison High School for nine years as a Resource Specialist, and as a Department Chair eight of those years. I left Madison High to work as a Resource Teacher in the Central Office to gain experience outside classroom setting, which was a great experience.
My next adventure was working for Behavior Support Resources for two years as a Behavior Support Teacher, consulting with teachers and staff in a cluster of schools in SDUSD.
I have always enjoyed coaching adults which led me to an amazing opportunity to support Intern Teachers while they were pursuing their teaching credentials through Teacher Preparation and Support Department. I have also supported teachers who were working on clearing their credentials. I worked as an Intern Support Provider for three years.
This brings me to my current position in TRACE. I was honored to join TRACE family three years ago. This feels like being back home.
My hobbies are traveling, trying new food, watching independent films and plays, and spending time with family and friends.
