I have been a teacher for nearly 39 years for students with moderate to severe disabilities within the San Diego Unified School District. I love working with young adults teaching them work and independent living skills.
Activities outside of teaching; I am a Disaster Action Team (DAT) Leader, Mass Care and Shelter Supervisor for the American Red Cross. As a DAT leader, I am dispatched to assist people affected by home fires and flooding. As a Mass care and Shelter Supervisor, I set and oversee shelters for people affected / displaced by wild fires, Hazmat or SWAT actions. I am also on the board of two nonprofits – Porchlight Food Share and Auntie Helens Fluff and Fold Laundry. For these organizations, I assist weekly with food recovery and distribution for the needy in both nonprofits. In my down time I enjoy plays, concerts, cooking and traveling.
