STUDENT OPPORTUNITIES

STUDENT EQUITY AMBASSADORS
FOR
SAN DIEGO UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT

It is the mission of the Student Equity Ambassadors (SEA) to provide a voice for the students in our district. Through this program, students collaborate with their peers and district leaders to find ways to improve the student experience while focusing on topics they are passionate about. SEA is a great place to build teamwork, problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills. Our voices and ideas start district and community conversations that lead to solutions and changes that benefit all San Diego Unified School District students and families.

Interested in joining the Student Equity Ambassadors? Please fill out this form. All students are welcome!

Our informational meeting will take place Monday, October 3rd at 4:30pm on Zoom.

VFW SCHOLARSHIP CONTEST

Established in 1947, our Voice of Democracy audio-essay program provides high school students with the unique opportunity to express themselves in regards to a democratic and patriotic-themed recorded essay. Each year, nearly 64,500 9-12 grade students from across the country enter to win their share of more than $2 million in educational scholarships and incentives awarded through the program.

The national first place winner receives a $30,000 scholarship paid directly to the recipient's American university, college or vocational/technical school. A complete list of other national scholarships range from $1,000-$16,000, and the first place winner from each VFW Department (state) wins a minimum scholarship of $1,000.

Want to apply? The rules, eligibility requirements, entry form, and theme are in the Voice of Democracy Scholarship Flyer.

Student entries must be submitted to a sponsoring local VFW post by midnight, October 31st, 2022.
