SCHOOL SITE COUNCIL
California Ed Code 11500-11506 charges schools receiving Title I funds to design parent involvement programs that meet the intent of Title I programs and also provide local flexibility to best meet the needs of the local community. In doing so, SDUSD charges each School Site Council with overseeing the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) and the categorical budgets associated within the plan. The SPSA is a plan that establishes the goals for a school’s student achievement, describes the programs, and identifies the categorical funds used by the school to achieve these goals. School Site Council’s support increases student achievement by focusing their work on the development, monitoring, and evaluation of the SPSA and corresponding budgets.
The SSC also has the responsibility of developing, reviewing and revising the Parent Involvement Policy and Home School Compact. The Parent Involvement Policy articulates the districts responsibility and efforts to build parent/district partnerships. The Home School Compact articulates families’ educational responsibilities.
This year, CHS has two openings for parents who wish to serve on our SSC. If you are the parent of a current student at CHS and would like to nominate either yourself or another parent you know to serve on the SSC, please use the link below to indicate your interest. Once a list of interested candidates is generated, CHS will be sending out a ballot providing parents with the opportunity to vote on who they would like to represent them on the SSC. The initial form below does not guarantee one's entry into the SSC but instead ensures that they will be considered on the ballot.
The SSC will meet 8 times a year (via Zoom) from 2:00 - 3:00 pm on the 3rd Tuesday of every month. If you have any additional questions concerning SSC, please reach out to our current SSC Chair, Ms. Heidi Fulton (hfulton@sandi.net)
ELAC (English Learner Advisory Council

- Assisting in the development of the schoolwide needs assessment.
- Ways to make parents aware of the importance of regular school attendance.
Please use the form below to nominate either yourself or another parent you know, to serve on the CHS English Language Advisory Council. If you have any questions concerning our ELAC, please contact Ms. Gina Turner (gturnersantiago@sandi.net)

ATHLETICS
ATHLETICS INTEREST SURVEY
As we gear up for the 2020-2021 Athletic season, CHS is asking all students interested in playing sports to complete the Sports Interests at Clairemont Survey by clicking on the link HERE.
Student-athletes should also begin working through the Athletic Clearance process to ensure they are cleared to play prior to the start of the season. More information about the Survey and the Athletic Clearance Process can be found on our Athletics Website at chschieftains.com. Students who need assistance with either completing the survey or getting cleared should reach out to CHS Athletic Director, Mr. Alfie Nowak (anowak@sandi.net)
CHS Player's Creed
It is the mission of the CHS athletics program to teach our student-athletes principles that will guide them for the rest of their lives. CHS athletics isn't just about better athletes, but better people. That is why we are so excited to launch our new CHS Player's Creed (see below). In collaboration with the CHS Athletic Leadership council and various stakeholders, the CHS Player’s Creed was developed to outline what we believe it means to be a CHIEF. Every student participating in athletics at CHS, as well as their parent/guardian will be required to sign the CHS Student-Athlete Contract which states the following:
As a student-athlete at Clairemont High School you have the privilege of being part of a memorable and life changing experience. With this privilege comes great responsibility. Therefore, it is the expectation of the CHS admin team and Athletic Director that all who participate in athletics actively work to model character and integrity of the highest quality in the classroom, on the court/pool/field, and in our community. By signing this contract, you agree to strive to live a life worthy of emulating by exhibiting Courage, Humility, Integrity, Endurance, and Focus in all that you do.
