Last Day of School
After 38 years of faithful service to the students and families of the San Diego Unified School District and Clairemont High School, Ms. Meg Moore will be retiring at the end of the 2020-2021 school year. Whether it was her Theater class, US or World history classes, directing ASB, hosting the CHS Makin' It events, or choreographing dances for school pep rallies, to US and World History, Ms. Moore has always been been willing to do whatever it takes to provide students with an educational experience of the highest quality. It has truly been a blessing to have her professionalism, positivity, and leadership on our campus and we wish her nothing by the best in her retirement. Thank you Ms. Moore for being the embodiment of what it means to be an educator and a Chieftain!
Dear San Diego Unified Families,
Starting on August 30, 2021, we are proud to continue in-person learning for all students, including five full days per week of on-campus instruction that follows established bell schedules, transportation routes, in-person meals, and extended-day programs. All SDUSD schools will continue to monitor and follow health and safety guidelines. While in-person, full-time instruction is the primary and recommended mode of learning for all students next year, the district is offering a virtual academy for K-12 students who choose to remain online.
Our San Diego Unified Virtual Academy will offer a robust online magnet school available for students K-12. This Virtual Academy will provide rigorous daily instruction substantially equivalent to onsite instruction, which includes grade-level standards-based lessons and District and State assessments. Teacher directed instruction, at our District Virtual Academy, will require students to be highly engaged and responsible for completing all class assignments. The only option for comprehensive online instruction will be offered centrally through the Virtual Academy rather than at neighborhood schools. Students may have on-campus opportunities to receive academic support, labs or hands-on activities. High school students will have opportunities to participate in athletics.
The Virtual Academy will provide instruction for all participating students, including students receiving special education services and multilingual learners. The Virtual Academy will provide virtual IEP services, as outlined in student’s IEPs.
The Virtual Academy will not offer the following programs: Early Learning, including Transitional Kindergarten (TK), Dual Language, International Baccalaureate (IB), and/or STEAM/VAPA Magnet.

As part of SDUSD Local Control Accountability Plan and mandates as described in the California School Dashboard, our District is required to measure Student Engagement, Parent Engagement & Overall School Climate. The California School Survey System (CAL-SCHLS) includes 3 surveys: California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS), California School Staff Survey (CSSS) and California Parent Survey (CPSS). All surveys are anonymous.
This year, the following are recommended participation goals for 2020-2021:
California Healthy Kids Survey: 80-85%
California Staff Survey: 60%
California Parent Survey: 40%
The CAL-SCHLS survey system is the most commonly used and reliable school survey, covering topics related to alcohol, tobacco, drugs, bullying, and other health issues such as school climate and student resiliency. The survey will be administered from May 1-28, 2021. These surveys will support and guide efforts for Multi-Tier Systems of Supports, Integrated Youth Services and our baseline data for High Reliability Schools (Level 1). Enhancing Positive School Climate and creating systems of prevention will continue to guide our District’s CAL-SCHLS data collection, data dissemination and integration.
CHS is asking that all parents and students take a moment to complete the appropriate survey at the link below.
Student Survey: https://wested.ugam-apps.com/wed/ts/SeaB
Parent Survey: https://wested.ugam-apps.com/wed/ts/cm1n
We value your feedback and are always looking for ways to improve the experience our students and families have here at CHS.
As graduation approaches, CHS wanted to remind Seniors that as you leave the district, and your district provided Google Account, you will lose all the data on your Google Drives. Seniors may want to transfer what they have on the district Google Drive to their personal account.
To transfer your files and save them, simply follow the directions on the set of instructions provided by SDUSD below:

Created this year by the San Diego Unified School District and The San Diego Foundation, Level Up SD, a Summer of Learning and Joy features in-person classroom instruction in the mornings at neighborhood schools with San Diego Unified teachers and summer activities offered by dozens of nonprofits in communities across the city. There is no cost to families for the classroom instruction or the activities, thanks to a $31 million commitment by the San Diego Unified Board of Education. To be eligible for #LevelUpSD, students must be enrolled in San Diego Unified for the 2021-2022 school year.
Summer school generally is offered to a select group of struggling students. Level Up SD is open to all K-12 students. This means thousands of kids from every corner of our community can now take advantage of in-person teacher-led instruction and summer activities beyond the classroom, like learning to kayak or learning to fly a drone, for the first time.
Enrichment Opportunities:
While the most rewarding learning experiences will come from our amazing educators, we are also partnering with the San Diego Foundation and dozens of local nonprofits to provide students with afternoon enrichment opportunities at no cost to families throughout the city. Summer enrichment programming offered by our VAPA, CCTE, and community partners will be available throughout June, July, and August 2021. Enrichment opportunities will include sports camps, STEAM-based experiences, access to UCSD Extension courses, and UC Scout online AP courses. These offerings will be available for enrollment on the Level Up SD website beginning May 26:
https://levelupsandiego.org/en/search
Examples of some classes are: Intro to Math 10A (Calculus), Intro to Psych, Intro to AutoCAD, Intro to Swift Programming, Intro to Logic, Organismic and Evolutionary Biology, Organizational Behavior.. and lots more that either JA, teachers from our district, or other partners are teaching in person.
Level Up SD: Website is LIVE!
Be sure to check out the Level Up SD website for summer enrichment program enrollment offered by our SDUSD CCTE and VAPA educators, Community Partners, and Non-Profit Organizations

As a student-athlete at Clairemont High School you have the privilege of being part of a memorable and life changing experience. With this privilege comes great responsibility. Therefore, it is the expectation of the CHS admin team and Athletic Director that all who participate in athletics actively work to model character and integrity of the highest quality in the classroom, on the court/pool/field, and in our community.
