STUDENT SUMMER CHROMEBOOK INFORMATION

Having a Chromebook is a privilege and important responsibility at Scripps Ranch High School. It is a tool that not only helps you in your classes, but it allows you to practice real-world skills you will need in the future. All students are expected to take good care of them.

All students except for those graduating or leaving the district will keep their Chromebooks over the summer.

Students will have access to applications in Clever until July 30th.

Protecting your Chromebook

These some helpful tips that will help keep your Chromebooks functioning and ready to go in the fall.

  • Do not alter the appearance of the Chromebook from when you received it (No adding of any stickers or any other decorative items).

  • Do not tamper with or remove school tags that are on the Chromebooks.

  • Use both hands when opening the Chromebooks.

  • Do not hold the Chromebook by the screen.

  • Always close the Chromebook before walking with it using two hands--remember, it has an 8-second startup.

  • Be sure to keep your Chromebook in a safe location (bag or backpack) when moving from class to class (location to location). Keep it separate from textbooks and other sharp or heavy objects that could potentially damage the screen.

  • Keep food and drink away from your Chromebook. Spilling liquid or crumbs on the screen or keyboard can damage it and prevent it from working for you.

  • Treat your Chromebook as a valuable material--do not leave it lying around where it can be damaged or stolen.

Cleaning your Chromebook

  • Use a dry microfiber cloth to wipe down the screen. Be careful not to press down hard as you may damage the screen.

  • Do not use any chemicals or other liquids to clean your Chromebook.

Preparing & Using your Chromebook For School

  • Chromebooks are required to be fully charged when you arrive at school each day.

  • Students are responsible for bringing their own charger if they do need to plug it in during class

  • When charging at home, be sure to place the Chromebook in an area that will prevent people from tripping from the power cord. This could injure the person and/or damage the Chromebook.

  • Determine a consistent place to charge your Chromebook at home.

Protecting your Account Information

  • When using your Chromebook, do not leave it on your desk or at home, close the lid so that no one can access your documents or information.

  • When you are finished using your Chromebook, make sure you are signed out.

  • Do not share your Chromebook with anyone.

  • Do not share your ID number or password with anyone!

  • Keep your Chromebook away from pets and small children.

  • Do not leave your Chromebook in a car (heat and direct sunlight could cause damage).

  • If there is an issue with your Chromebook, contact the district IT department ASAP.
