- Welcome to Ms. E’s online, extra-curricular Spanish 1/2 classes!
I hope you are doing ok at home, and that both you and your family are well.
- Important: in these times of social distancing I think it is extra important to be kind to others and reach out to people you’re not able to spend time with while being physically in the same space. I am excited to try out a new platform with you, FlipGrid, where you will record yourself speaking and will be able to listen, see, and respond to each other. A reminder: when we respond to each other online we must be polite and kind, even if school is closed right now.
- Please watch this video explaining how to use flipgrid.
Now, please log on to flipgrid via this link https://flipgrid.com/engan2203. It will be your extra-curricular “homework” to respond to the prompt. Tomorrow you will watch other people’s responses and respond to some of them.

Extra curricular “homework” today: Log on to flipgrid via this link https://flipgrid.com/engan2203. Respond to the prompt ¡Hola! 23 de marzo. 15 minutes Rosetta Stone
Happy Thursday March 19:
I hope you are well!
News #1: I cannot give you grades for extra curricular work you do while the school is closed. I still highly recommend that you do Rosetta Stone and other Spanish work. All and any school work you do while school is closed is extra curricular for now. That means I can't force you to do it and I'm not allowed to grade it. (If you are turning in late work that was due weeks and months ago, I will grade that and put it into PowerSchool.)
News #2: I don't know about you, but I am a little bit bored and I miss coming to school every day and talking to you all! Starting next Monday (March 23) I plan to do Spanish 1/2 class at 10am in the morning for 20 minutes or so. You can join me in real time via zoom (I will provide a link and you can log on via your device or phone), or you can watch/listen to the recording of it afterwards.
I'm available by email kengan@sandi.net. Remember to be kind, both to your family members, friends, and yourself.
Take care,
Ms. E
Dear students and parents:
While we stay home from school. please consider keeping up your with Spanish. Below you will find some suggestions for what you might do this week. If you do and turn it in when we meet again I will give you a grade for it. If you don't, I will excuse you from it. Gradewise it means that if you don't do it, it will not affect your grade in a negative way. If you do it, though, it might help you grade. More importantly, doing something to do will Spanish will help you when we get back to school for sure.
Suggestions for this week (March 16-22):
- 15 minutes Rosetta Stone each day (Mon-Friday)
- Each day (Mon-Friday): watch one video from Dreaming Spanish (Pablo) and write a short summary in English (3-5 sentences) about it. Write down at least 10 important words he uses in the story, in English and Spanish. You can use spanishdict.com or wordreference.com to find out what words mean. I recommend watching each video at least twice. Here are some suggestions from the superbeginner category.
Other things you might do is check out the Spanish library at commonlit.org and/or use duolingo.com. These last two suggestions will not give you a grade.
I expect to be available on email through this time away from school, and would love to hear from you!
Most importantly, I hope you remain healthy and well, and that I get to see you all again April 6.
Wishing you well,
Ms. Engan
