Hello! My name is Rhea Brown, and I am proud to support the wonderful teachers, students, and families at Mountain View as the Principal. I love being part of the Mountain View community of changemakers! It is a privilege to be part of a school that truly honors the growth and development of each individual child and partners with families to provide a nurturing, supportive learning environment.
I attended Wellesley College in Massachusetts, where I combined my love of astronomy with my passion for children and social justice to earn my science teaching credential. I’ve taught math, social studies, engineering, and science in classrooms ranging from elementary school through high school. Before I moved to San Diego, I taught middle school science and led a school-wide project-based learning initiative in a district public school outside of Boston. After arriving in San Diego, I completed a master’s program in school leadership at High Tech High, where I focused on restorative practices and project-based learning. I’ve always been passionate about innovative teaching practices, social justice, and social/emotional learning, so I was thrilled to find a school like Mountain View. I joined the Mountain View family in 2016, as the Dean of Students and Middle School STEM teacher.
As principal, it is an honor to support the talented, dedicated teachers and staff in providing a constructivist, learner-centered education that meets the social, emotional, and academic needs of our individual students. I am proud to be part of this community, and look forward to continuing to learn and grow alongside the wonderful students, families, and staff at Mountain View
Hello! I am Ms. Sonia. I am so happy to be a veteran teacher of our amazing school. I have been here since almost the very beginning and it has been wonderful to be a part of its growth and transformation. I am excited for another year of teaching our youngest changemakers in Tk/Kinder and to again be a part of a team of committed and compassionate educators for social change.
I am a San Diego native, and though I have lived internationally abroad, including a service in Peace Corps, I returned to be with my family and contribute to my home community. I love dance, yoga, and the outdoors and can often be found biking or hiking with my daughter and our beloved doggie, Zion.
I received a Bachelor in Arts in Theater from UCSD and began my teaching practice working for SDUSD in the VAPA (Visual and Performing Arts) department as a Teaching Artist. In this capacity I integrated arts curriculum with literacy and science and taught both students and their teachers how to make more meaningful learning experiences. I was inspired to get my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from PLNU to be an even more effective educator.
I have always loved working with young children. Their wonder and enthusiasm for each day is contagious. It is my honor to guide these precious beings through their learning journeys. Journeys that are truly integrated across all content areas immersed with playfulness, curiosity, exploration, and with their social and emotional development taking center stage. In this way learning is relevant, engaging and the whole-child grows.
My name is Ms. Alaina and I am a primary multiage teacher at The Mountain View School. I am a proud parent to two beautiful children, Logan and Avery, ages ten and seven. They are my inspiration and daily reminder of the importance of compassion, patience, and understanding when relating with kids and people of all ages.
After a decade in the corporate sector, traveling the nation teaching financial software to Credit Unions, I decided the time had come to follow my passion and answer the longtime calling to become a teacher. I went on to graduate with a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies and obtain my K-8 teaching credential from Western Governors University’s Teachers College.
Since 2017, it has been an honor to be a part of a team of incredibly talented teachers and staff that put kids first in all that they do. I have had the pleasure of being the guest teacher in every classroom from kindergarten to eighth grade. I worked for a year and a half as a Special Education Instructional Assistant where I honed my skills in the area of restorative practices, inclusive school community building, and supporting the social emotional health of students. It is my strong conviction that students learn best from people that love and truly care about them. Genuinely connecting with kids and providing a nurturing, supportive learning environment is a hallmark of my teaching philosophy.
For fun, I enjoy time with friends and family adventuring around our beautiful city, bike riding, swimming, live music, and singing karaoke. I love being a part of such a remarkable community of changemakers! I look forward to the continued journey of learning and growing alongside the wonderful students, families, and staff at The Mountain View School.
Hello, my name is Ms. Christina and I am part of the Primary Multi Age Teacher team at Mountain View. I am very excited to be at a school where every educator puts the whole child first, and I enjoy being in an environment where there is a wonderful school-family connection. My teaching practice is based on building a strong positive relationship with each student and making them feel empowered to be changemakers for now and the future. I believe children learn best and thrive when they feel fully supported as a whole person, emotionally and academically, which is the reason I include social emotional learning throughout each day. I feel that culture and diversity also play vital roles in the classroom, as every child is a gift and should feel included, accepted, and honored for their unique backgrounds and experiences.
Education, learning, and cultural awareness has long been personal interests that I actively pursued, and my early background includes working for an airline, which allowed the ability to travel to many diverse countries. My love of travel pushed me to pursue my Bachelor’s degree at UCLA where I graduated Summa Cum Laude, majoring in Anthropology with an emphasis on culture and linguistics. Upon graduation I worked for the RAND Corporation. While working there, my emphasis was on children’s health, community, and cultural diversity that initiated change for public policy in education and healthcare. It is here while working with children and their families I realized my love for teaching. Later in life, I decided to pursue my dream of teaching and attended California State Los Angeles for my credential.
I was born in Los Angeles and split my childhood from being raised there and Sao Paulo, Brazil. Eventually, I moved to the beautiful city of San Diego and really enjoy living here with my family. My husband and our three boys are huge inspirations to me, and it is through them that I have learned to try new perspectives, make learning fun, challenge myself, be passionate and stay positive. Outside of the classroom you can find me cooking a meal with my husband, going to the beach, taking long road trips or just being adventurous.
It is my goal to encourage students to see learning beyond the walls of our classroom and view the diverse world around them as an opportunity for discovery. I strive to instill a passion for lifelong learning!
Hi yall! I’m Ms. Anissa one of the Elementary Multi Age teachers at our school. I was born and raised here in Barrio Logan just a couple of blocks away from Chicano Park. I am passionate about my family, my community, my culture and helping others. I love dancing, reading and spending time with my nephews.
I received my Bachelors degree at the University of California, Davis where I studied Sociology with an emphasis in Law & Society, Chican@ Studies & Education. I moved back home in 2015 which is when I found this wonderful community. After a year and a half of being an instructional assistant I had acquired so many meaningful experiences and learned so many things from the amazing educators that I was working with. They inspired me to pursue my own dreams and I decided to begin my teaching journey through High Tech’s Graduate School of Education.
I am ecstatic to continue to work with such passionate and dedicated individuals who believe in teaching the whole child, provide social and emotional learning, and help nurture changemakers everyday. I am grateful to be working in the community I grew up in and providing kids with a unique educational experience.

As an educator, I prioritize students as individuals, believe in learning through playing and practice, and focus on developing empathy and self-awareness. I’m here to create lifelong learners who are compassionate and curious about the world around them. I value building relationships with students and opening up my classroom as a safe space for all students.
I have been with Mountain View School since 2018 as the Bridging STEM teacher. I have a background in biology (with a focus on zoology and ecology) from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) and my teaching credential from the California State University at Long Beach (CSULB).

My name is Rosalia Serrano and it is an honor to be part of the Special Education team at Mountain View School. I was born in Los Angeles, CA and raised in Tijuana, Mexico until my family and I moved to San Diego, CA when I was 15 years old.
For 12 years, and prior to becoming a certified Teacher, I had the privilege of working with students in various settings, and across a wide range of demographics, in San Diego.
I attended Point Loma Nazarene University where I achieved a Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with an Emphasis in Education. I love being part of the Mountain View school community where I am able to teach students through a student-centered approach supporting the unique social, emotional and academic growth, and development of each individual child.

Hello, my name is Dana Antaki! Currently, I am a certified Education Specialist although I spent much of my career working at the New York City Department of Education as a Special Education Teacher. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood/Childhood Education and Psychology and a Master’s Degree of Science in Special Education. I recently decided to embark on a new journey in California and am so thrilled that I found the Mountain View Community!
When I moved to CA and began researching schools, I was immediately drawn to Mountain View’s mission. I am so fortunate to work alongside colleagues that value MV’s whole-child, student-centered approach to learning. Being a part of a community where each individual child has access to social, emotional, and academic opportunities for growth, brings light to my life knowing that these students will be prepared to contribute positive change to this world. I am truly passionate about creating a welcoming and safe space for each child and vow to always act as an advocate for students. During the course of my chosen career path, I have learned that being an educator is more than just teaching, rather it is about taking on many different roles. I’ve become a mother-figure, a leader, an active listener, a friend, and more. It will always be a priority for me to implement the extra support that students need to reach their highest potential and I am willing to continuously go above and beyond for my students’ success.
A few fun facts about me - I love spending time with my family and friends, reading, cooking, playing softball, traveling, exploring my new home - San Diego, and meeting new people! I’ve worked in the restaurant industry for over a decade, which has helped to contribute to my patient personality. Helping others brings happiness to my life! :)
Hello Mountain View Community!
My name is Kelley Herring and I am the School Counselor at Mountain View School.
I was born and raised in Littleton, CO where I lived for 26 years. As a child of two teachers, I started out wanting to teach English, but I took a detour after earning my BA in English Literature from Colorado State University. A major life event drove me to pursue a career in mental health, and I began this journey by working with adults & families in a treatment center for substance abuse, trauma, chronic pain and eating disorders, where I spent 7 years. It was this work, with the children of adults in treatment, that helped to shape my decision to become a school counselor. I have been with the Mountain View School community & worked as a school counselor in K-8, full inclusion schools since 2013. I hold a Master of Science in School Counseling and a California Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) K-12 Credential in School Counseling.
As a counselor, I seek multi-faceted opportunities to support kids by encouraging peer relationships, teaching communication and social skills, and by helping to develop self-awareness and build self-esteem. I feel so fortunate to be part of a team that approaches education from a whole-child perspective; where social, emotional and academic development are inextricably linked. I love being surrounded by people who work together to encourage every student’s individuality, creativity, and freedom of expression.
Despite having lived many years in San Diego, I am a Colorado native at heart, with a lifelong love of cold & snow. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time & planning adventures with my family (my partner and our 12-year old twins). Together we love to travel, ski, hike, snorkel, swim, go for bike rides, watch movies and play with our animals.
Thank you for the opportunity to work with your children!

Before starting at Mountain View, I attended Central Connecticut State University with a major in Physical Education and minor in Psychology. I combined my love of sports and working with youth to find the perfect position where I can impact as many people as I can. I’ve worked with youth through the YMCA in Connecticut and California through the before and after school program setting and summer camps for the past 8 years! I have worked with students of all grade levels from K-12 and am excited to work with all the Mountain View students!
As the new PE Coach, I look forward to building strong relationships with the students and families within the community. I strive to focus on the benefits of physical activity and eating the right way.
