Mental health is a concern for millions of Americans everyday. During the outbreak of COVID-19 (coronavirus), everyday life changed for millions of Americans. This change included job and income losses, loss of traditional school and work schedules, changes in social practices and ability to freely see friends and family, as well as fear, anxiety, and stress over an illness. These feelings on stress, anxiety, and fear can causing strong emotions in you and your student(s).
Stress during the COVID-19 outbreak can show the following symptoms in both adults and children/adolescents:
Fear about your health and the health of friends and family
Changes in sleep patterns (difficulty sleeping or sleeping too much)
Difficulty concentrating
Increasing mental health difficulties
Increasing use of alcohol, tobacco, or other drugs
