Collaborative Leadership at Ross:

At Ross Elementary, we are becoming a Community School. This means we work together with families, students, staff, and community partners to help every child learn, feel safe, and feel welcome. Our roadrunners do their best when we work as a team.

What Does “Collaborative Leadership” Mean?

“Collaborative leadership” is a big phrase that simply means: We make plans and decisions together. Instead of just a few people deciding, we invite:

• Families

• Teachers and school staff

• Students (when it makes sense)

• Community partners

Everyone can share ideas, ask questions, and help guide what happens at Ross.

Year 1: Building Our Team and Listening

This year is Year 1 of our Community School journey at Ross. Our main job right now is to build a strong team and listen.

In Year 1, we are:

• Forming a leadership team
  We are making a team that includes families, staff, and partners to help guide our Community School work.

• Making sure many voices are included
  We are inviting people from different backgrounds, cultures, and roles so more voices are heard.

• Setting up how we meet
  We are choosing meeting times, making simple rules for meetings, and planning how we share information.

• Listening and learning
  We are looking at surveys, school information, and family feedback to learn what is going well and what needs to improve.

• Sharing what we’re doing
  We are telling families what our team is talking about and deciding, such as through newsletters, flyers, and our school website.

By the end of Year 1, we want to have:

• A strong, diverse team, and

• A clear picture of our roadrunners’ needs and strengths.
  
  

Year 2: Turning Ideas into Action

In Year 2, we will use what we learned in Year 1 to take more action for our Ross roadrunners and their families.

In Year 2, you can expect:

• Clear goals
  Our team will choose a few important goals based on what families, students, and staff told us.

• New projects and supports
  We will plan and start projects to support students and families.
  This might include things like new family events, extra learning time, or more support with basic needs.

• More ways to be involved
  Families, students, and partners will have more chances to help lead projects, join work groups, and share ideas.

• Checking in and improving
  We will look at how our projects are going, ask for feedback, and make changes to keep getting better.

• Regular updates
  We will keep families informed about what we are doing, what we are learning, and how it is helping our roadrunners.

By the end of Year 2, we want working together to be a normal part of Ross Elementary, not just a special project. Our goal is that decisions at Ross reflect your voice and help all of our roadrunners grow and succeed.
