Project unified

Urban NeIghborhood Forestry to Improve and Enhance Development (UNIFIED)

Essential question

How can we improve our benefits from the ecosystem services provided within our neighborhoods?

Project overview

Working in partnership with local experts, students will map their neighborhood urban forests and quantify the ecosystem services that they provide, including carbon sequestration and water conservation levels. Using this information, students will develop interactive maps and proposals to expand their urban forests within city owned streets and land. They will quantify the benefits provided by their proposed greening efforts and present their recommendations to town councils and community stakeholders for adoption and implementation.
