"Put your heart, mind, and soul into even your smallest acts. This is the definition of success." - unknown
Ihave been a teacher in SDUSD since 1999 (teaching 4-6 grades in City Heights and Lincoln Heights), a RJ Practitioner for the last 5 years and the RJP Coordinator at Porter for the last 2 1/2 years.
My journey began with my own children. My daughter was severally bullied all through elementary and middle school and no one really helped at school. My son was expelled from HS on a zero tolerance infraction and I was called a bad parent by an administrator working in SDUSD. In 2014 my son was killed. I knew there had to be a better way to support bullied, lost, grieving and abandoned students and families. Restorative Justice is that way.
Through these practices, not only are the children that are harmed helped, but also the person who caused the harm. I base my practice through the lens of restorative practices, social-emotional learning, trauma informed practices and grief therapy practices.
I believe that every child is better than their mistakes and everyday is a fresh start. I believe every parent wants what is best for their child. I believe it does take a village and that the Lincoln Heights Community is my village. I believe that together we can raise the geniuses and a remarkable future.
