My name is Christopher, and I am the Project Based Learning Resource Teacher for the San Diego Unified School District.
Prior to my career in "formal" education, I studied and worked in the field of wildlife ecology and conservation, which eventually led me to San Diego for my Master's of Science in Ecology (SDSU). I then made the conscious shift to teaching because I believe that people have an enormous capacity to enact change. From 2014-2021, I co-designed and instructed interdisciplinary, student-centered projects in 11th & 12th grade biology & environmental science at High Tech High Media Arts. More information about my PBL teaching experience can be found here.
I received my M.Ed in Educational Leadership from High Tech High's Graduate School of Education in 2020. This deepened my leadership through what I consider to be the pillars of my practice: critical self-reflection, authentic connection, and the disruption of oppressive/dominant systems.
As an educational leader, I have designed and facilitated dozens of PBL professional learning opportunities, as well as coached and mentored teachers and leaders across the PBL spectrum. My goal with PBL is to help mobilize and strengthen the relationships that already exist within educational communities in order to make learning transformational for years to come.
