Hello Families,

Welcome to Third Grade! I am thrilled that your child is in my classroom this year. I am looking forward to a year filled with growth and learning! This is my 3rd year of teaching and I am excited to be teaching 3rd grade again. I feel strongly that children receive the best education when parents and teachers work together. I look forward to working with you and your child this year. Below is some information that will be useful to you this school year.

Schedule:

Online: While we are fully online for instruction our day will include live instruction (whole class and small groups) along with independent work for your child to complete. I will have a set schedule for this so you can get into a routine. Your child will need to login to Zoom for the live instruction. Please make sure that they are in a space that will allow them to focus and participate. For live instruction, they will need to be logged in at a specific time for the lesson. Your child will also have time each day to complete independent work. It is expected that it is completed and turned in by the due date. I will share this schedule next week.

Zoom: We will be holding class via Zoom. Your child is expected to login through the zoom link I will share on Google Classroom, ClassDojo, and Google Sites.

  • Please make sure your child is logged on and ready at the scheduled time with all their materials.

  • I will take daily attendance for Zoom lessons.

  • Please DO NOT sit right next to your child the entire Zoom lesson. I want your child to work on building the independence that is so vital in 3rd grade. Please periodically check in with your child to make sure they are focused and on task.

  • Please set up a space for your child to work that allows them to focus and participate. Try and limit noises and distractions. Your child should NOT be walking around during the Zoom lessons. Headphones during this time would be very helpful!

Behavior: An effective learning environment requires good behavior from all students both in the physical classroom and online. We will spend time building a classroom community and going over classroom expectations and behavior. It is expected that students are respectful, courteous, and considerate of others. It is also expected that they will be responsible for their learning. Please make sure to communicate with your child about their classroom behavior.

Communication: The best way to reach me is to send me a message on ClassDojo or through email. Please keep in mind that during instruction time I will not be checking my messages and may not respond immediately. I will do my best to respond by the end of the school day.

I know that things are different than we are used to at the beginning of a new school year but I know we will all make the best of it! I look forward to working with you and your child this year!

This Google Site will be a central place you and your child can find information for B-7.
