  • Read your roleplays from Thursday/Friday. Make notes of all the foods and drinks you hear, both in Spanish and English.
  • Write notes: jugar (ue) pp. 307. Jugar (play a sport) vs. tocar (play an instrument). Tocar is a regular verb
  • Learning stations. No more than 6 students per station. You need your writing book, a pencil, and your computer.
    • Write six sentences in your writing book, one for each conjugation of jugar. Mention at least 3 different sports. Modelo: Marisol juega al tenis. Then, write six sentences with tocar, one for each conjugation. Mention at least 3 different instruments. Modelo: Enrique toca la guitarra. Use spanishdict.com to look up sports and instruments.
    • Weather vocabulary sheet. Open the link on your computer. Make your own vocabulary sheet or paper flash card with the terms. You can write in your writing book if you prefer. Consolidate (write right next to each other) the expressions that mean the same. Illustrate if you have time.

  • Roleplay: Almuerzo en la cafetería. In groups of 2, 3, or 4 you are going to write a role play of a conversation in the cafeteria, talking about food. You will write it together -- everyone has input and everyone is responsible -- and you will all write it down (and submit it to me at the end, after reading it for everyone.
    • Use food vocabulary from U3L1, both breakfast foods and lunch foods.
    • Talk about liking and not liking different foods, using gustar.
    • Talk about time, for instance what time it is now or what time the other person(s) have a specific class.
    • Talk about how you feel.
    • Each person will have at least 8 lines to read. (No. / Sí. does not count as a line!)

You will work on it today and tomorrow in class and you will have time to practice next Tuesday. It is due Wednesday Feb 21. You will read out your roleplay and each person will submit the whole conversation then (written by hand).

For your grade I will focus on pronunciation and your written, clean copy (spelling, correct grammar etc).

Important information if you did badly on your mid-term

I have graded the mid-terms, the grades are on PowerSchool now.

You can log into quia.com/web and check your tests and see exactly what you did right and wrong. For a few of you, I had to print out and grade your quia tests on paper. You will get them back today in class, Thursday.

If you did badly on the test and saw your final grade drop you may do these two things to bring it back to what it was before the mid-term. If you want to improve your grade you must do both.

  • Do this test (identical to the mid-term) and get at least 90% on it (you have unlimited attempts) by Friday 1/26 at 9pm. You can use the book or your notes or whatever help you may get. http://www.quia.com/quiz/6660901.html AND

Optional hand activity for Spanish period 4 and 7 (10 pts). Do it at home and hand in Friday or before. Draw your hand on a piece of paper. Answer these 5 questions, one for each finger:

  • thumb: what is your name
  • index finger: what is your favorite food and why?
  • middle finger: name one person or thing that supports you. How does he/she/it support you?
  • ring finger: what do you like to do in your spare time?
  • little finger: share one goal for this year and one goal you would like to achieve in the next 5 years.
