My name is Karyn Bartig. I graduated from University of Wisconsin Madison with a BA in Education Child & Family Development and also have my Psychologhy major. I obtained my Master's of Education with emphasis in Best Practices from National University. After graduating from UW, I taught Kindergarten in Wisconsin for 3 years before moving to San Diego where I was hired by the San Diego Unified School District and have taught Kindergarten through Third grade. I am very confident that Kindergarten is my niche'. It is where I can make the biggest difference in the lives of children. I have taught afterschool reading programs, summer school and parent education programs. I enjoy being a part of the ILT and Talent Show Commitee.
A little more about me: I was born and raised in Wisconsin. I am an avid reader, lover of music, art, the culinary arts, traveling and the beach. Growing up in Wisconsin I became a huge Packer and Wisconsin Badger fan and football is my favorite sport. I enjoy giving back to the community and have worked with programs that feed the homeless and have also worked with The Princess Project. My parents were both teachers, as were my grandmothers, and they inspired me. I had wonderful role models and was drawn to educational environments throughout my life. I want to make a diffence in the lives of children and inspire students to explore and gain confidence through learning. I hope to equip students with a growth mindset and help them to find their voice. I am proud to say that I have been teaching at Ericson for 21 years and I still enjoy every day.
