Ms. Sarah Bobier
Hi! My name is Ms. Bobier and I love teaching third grade a Jefferson IB STEAM Elementary. I consider myself to be a hardworking, fun-loving, committed educator! Each year I strive to foster a love for learning and open doors to life's opportunities for all of my students. I hope to create a learning environment where kids feel safe to take risks and work together to think critically and solve problems. Our educational program is developed with the goal of creating globally-minded citizens who will solve the problems of the future and make the world a better place. I am so amazed at what third graders are capable of!
In my time away from the classroom, I take full advantage of living in sunny San Diego. I enjoy going to the beach, practicing yoga, and running all over our beautiful city. I love spending time outdoors with my boys, being active, and exploring new places. I try to incorporate these experiences into my classroom whenever possible because I think that kids learn the most when they are having fun!
Ms. Caroline Starnes
Hi my name is Caroline Starnes. I LOVE teaching third grade!! My students and I explore together, inquire together, problem solve together, grow together and learn together. I like to think of my classroom as a comfortable place to be yourself, learn, and grow. My students work as a team to support each other in reaching their goals. Our learning is based on collaboration and critical thinking. It is my goal to create internationally-minded children through Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math. I am so fortunate to work with little people who inspire me everyday!!!
When I am not at Jefferson, I enjoy time with my family and exploring our beautiful city. I love to hike with my son, Charlie, and our dog, Wag. We love the outdoors and fun road trips. Charlie and I love to have unique adventures and often refer to ourselves as "tourists in our own city"! We even took the train across the country recently. My newest journey is parenting a college student. My son will be an SDSU Aztec this fall!!
Mrs. Jennifer Valenzuela
Hola! My name is Jennifer Valenzuela and I love being a third grade teacher! Students in my classroom can expect to be welcomed into a caring learning environment where you are free to be yourself, encouraged to make mistakes and learn from them, and to collaborate with others. I like to challenge students to become more independent by taking agency and ownership of their learning and responsibilities. I believe in Culturally Relevant Teaching where we honor diversity in order to create a more inclusive, empathetic, and tolerant world.
Outside of school, I have a family with my husband of 15 years and my children. My son Diego attends High Tech High, and my daughter Lili attends High Tech Middle. I am in the process of earning my Masters of Arts in Teaching through SDSU. Other than that, I like to read, shop, dance, and watch TV. I love Jefferson and am proud to be part of this amazing team of teachers and staff!
