Dear Second Grade Families,
I am so eager to be a part of your child's educational journey. My teaching philosophy is student-centered and I believe in providing students with many hands on experiences in all subject areas. Such experiences will be informative as well as enjoyable for the students. Together as a team we will work to make your child's experience educational, interesting, and fun! As the year progresses, I look forward to getting to know you and your child.
To let you know a little about myself, I have been teaching for San Diego Unified School District since 2004. I graduated from California State University – San Marcos (C.S.U.S.M.) and hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Spanish and my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. Through San Diego State, I became certified as a G.A.T.E. teacher (Gifted and Talented Education) and I also participated in a Young Scholars professional development in 2012. In May of 2016, I earned a Masters Degree in S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, & Math) through the University of San Diego.
In addition to teaching, my husband and I are proud parents of two remarkable children that consistently remind me of the world's amazing gifts. When I am not teaching, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling, hiking and spending a lot of time at the beach.
