Dear Second Grade Families,

Welcome to second grade! I am excited to be a part of your child's educational journey this year. My teaching philosophy is student-centered, and I believe in providing students with engaging, hands-on learning experiences across all subject areas. These experiences help make learning both meaningful and enjoyable. By working together as a team, we can make this school year educational, engaging, and fun. I look forward to getting to know both you and your child as we learn and grow together throughout the year.

A little about me: I have been teaching with the San Diego Unified School District since 2004. I graduated from California State University San Marcos (CSUSM) with a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies, with an emphasis in Spanish, and earned my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. Through San Diego State University, I became certified as a GATE (Gifted and Talented Education) teacher and participated in the Young Scholars professional development program in 2012. In May 2016, I earned a Master's degree in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) from the University of San Diego.

As a lifelong learner, I am committed to continually growing as an educator. Most recently, through a collaboration between San Diego State University and the San Diego County Office of Education, I earned the Leadership, Equity, and Access in Education (LEAL) certificate, which strengthens my ability to create inclusive, equitable, and supportive learning environments for all students.

Beyond the classroom, my husband and I are proud parents of two wonderful children who inspire me every day. They continually remind me of the joy, curiosity, and wonder that children bring to the world. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling, hiking, and, of course, enjoying our beautiful San Diego beaches.
