Miss Carroll

My name is Denise Carroll, and I have been teaching at Grant for 32 years, and Mission Hills is my home away from home. I am from New York where I received my bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in English. I received my master’s in curriculum development. In 2008, I obtained certification in Gifted and Talented Education. While teaching, I also did consulting work for new teachers from SDSU.

While at Grant, I have taught the math lab (when we were a magnet school), kindergarten, first grade, third grade, and most of my career has been teaching second grade. I work with a fabulous team (Grant Goddesses), and when we return to in person learning, your child will have the opportunity to work with all of us.

My son, Jordan, is 34 years old and still lives with me. We are more like roommates, but the mother and son bond is as strong as ever. He has already traveled abroad many times, and loves Europe. He received a bachelor’s in Business Administration, and a bachelor’s in Health Administration.

I am looking forward to a fabulous year with my new scholars. Even though we won’t be physically together, we will become a family in no time.
