Gecko News is a fun experience that brings entertainment and weekly news to the students of Grant TK-8!
Gecko News is a Middle School news station that is operated by 17 middle school students known as the Gecko News Crew who spend their time entertaining middle schoolers and keeping them informed!
Gecko News is the best way to stay informed about what's going on in our school. We are produced by the students for the students. We welcome your feedback.
Gecko News has shared many videos with the school as well as included people with different backgrounds, opinions, and more in the filming process.
1: Gecko News meets during lunch every Monday so that we can keep our crew updated on the happenings of Gecko News and other important info on the school. During this time we also get the set ready to film.
2: We meet during Monday and Tuesday Advisories to film! First, we film General News, then we film the Weather, next, we film Sports, and last but not least, we film National Days. We take as many cuts as it takes to create the perfect video for Grant Middle Schoolers to enjoy.
3: Our editorial group then works together to turn 4 different videos into 1 video and to add the other necessary bits such as credits, an opening part, a closing part, and sometimes pop-ups!
4: Next, we share the video with all the middle school Advisory teachers
5: Last but not least, the teachers open their Google Drive during Monday's advisory and share the video! They show all their students in their Advisory, but it was originally shown at the beginning of the day in 1st Period.
