The collaborative leadership process is a dynamic approach where leaders and educational partners work together to achieve shared goals. It values open communication, active listening, and mutual respect. Leaders guide discussions, encourage diverse perspectives, and promote teamwork to drive innovation and solve problems.
Incorporating Improvement Science strengthens this process by applying a systematic method for identifying challenges, testing solutions, and measuring results. Through ongoing (PDSA) cycles of planning, action, study, and reflection, teams use evidence to refine their strategies based on evidence, and implement sustainable improvements. As a result, collaborative leadership enhanced by Improvement Science not only fosters innovation but also ensures that progress is measurable, purposeful, and responsive to evolving needs.
The Site Governance Team (SGT) is the democratically elected body that engages in collaborative decision making when it comes to major issues facing the school community. SGT is composited of teachers, parents, students, admin, and classified staff in order to ensure all educational partners voices are heard and have a say in the policies that affect them. At the beginning of our Community Schools journey, Fay's SGT decided to make a sub-committee dedicated to the Community Schools work.
