This Is an image I edited of a character named Ken Kaneki from a show called Tokyo Ghoul. I first put blood on his face, fanning out from his mouth across his cheek, resizing and masking it to fit. Then I moved him onto a new background, I made sure to place him into something with similar red lighting at the bottom and then I Burned and Dodged it several in several spots to blend him further with the new background. It's one of my favorite pieces I've made.
This is my first project in Photoshop. I had many ideas but I wasn't quite sure how to translate them onto the photo. I wanted to have a person with portions of their face missing and a skull showing underneath, I found the skull you see in the photo but I realized, given how scary it is, I had to pick someone who everyone would agree is deserving of the skull. After giving it some thought I settled on Ted Bundy. I pasted the picture over the skull and erased portions of his face (I didn't know how to mask at the time). I used the sharpen tool to give it the noise and then I burned it to give it a more angered expression (the original photo shows Bundy smiling). In the end It came out very well and I added the text box to help convey who it was in the photo.
This was my attempt at digital art, I originally started it in chrome canvas so that I could use a stylus for the initial sketch. After I sketched it I put it into photoshop and cleaned it up significantly, using the brush and erase tools to shadow some spots while erasing lines in others. It was pretty difficult to figure out at first as I had to manage cleaning an image with no preset layers, adding my own and using them in varying ways. I finished it by using the elliptical marquee tool and making the distant planet in the top left corner, I made the first darker grey circle and then I made a second white circle at 60% opacity to create the lighting. Overall it came out rather well, and it was fun to make.
