Course Description:
US History from colonialism to 1914. Students will be assessed using classwork, tests, quizzes, projects, homework, discussions, participation, and writing assignments.
Assignments, homework, related resources, and samples will be posted on the class website. That is the link to bookmark to keep track of what is happening in, and out, of class, including due dates and most assignments!

In addition to the text, supplementary resources will be implemented to broaden the students’ depth of understanding.
Grading policy and practices/extended opportunities:
Each six-week grading period will be based on the content standards and assessed by means of classwork, tests, quizzes, projects, homework, discussions, participation, and writing assignments.
Standard Points based grading:
A = 100-90%
B = 89-80%
C = 79-70%
D = 69-60%
F = 59-0%
Attendance/make-ups/tardy:
Students are responsible for all missed work, and must turn it in accordance with the Late Work Policy. Make-up tests are arranged with me. Students are expected to be in their assigned seat ready to work before the tardy bell rings.
Assignment & Homework goals/expectations:
Homework activities are generally focused on the extension of activities / content learned within the classroom and projects.
Regrade Requests:
Assignments (not tests/quizzes) that receive a grade below an A- can be redone and regraded with a maximum score of an A or A-equivalent. Students are responsible for obtaining a Regrade Request Form, and must 1) let me know they want to redo the assignment, 2) properly fill out the Regrade Request Form, and 3) resubmit the redone assignment with the Regrade Request Form within the Late Work Policy window (see below).
Late Work Policy:
Late work is any work that is turned in after the period/time that it is due. Late work can be submitted up to one week after the original due date via a properly filled out Regrade Request Form. If needed and after a conversation with me, missing work can be submitted up to one week after the end of each unit, also with a Regrade Request Form. When absent on an assignment due date, students are expected to submit their work on the day they return to receive full credit. If absent on the day an assignment is given, an additional day will be added to the deadline if needed by the student. Students are responsible for ensuring that they get any assignments missed if they are absent, and for knowing when it is due. Assignments are posted daily on the teacher’s class page which is accessible through www.iMiddle.org.
Classroom Behavior Standards: The classroom is to be a positive, community-focused learning environment at all times. This includes enacting Innovation Citizenship and SOAR rules and practices. Citizenship grades are meant to reflect student success in these areas. I aim to help cultivate this healthy environment by checking in with students and their guardians about both positive and negative behaviors. We are a team!

Cheating/Plagiarism policy:
Any cheating or plagiarizing will result in 0 points on that assignment, with no acceptance of a Regrade Request Form. Admin and guardians will be notified appropriately.
