When communities have space:
They can create amazing things.
ALBAPonics
Check out this student film made by Basilio Quinonez explaining how the system works.
Aquaponics is a sustainable food production method that combines aquaculture (raising fish) and hydroponics (growing plants without soil) in a single, integrated system. This symbiotic relationship allows fish waste to be converted into nutrients for plants, and the plants, in turn, filter the water for the fish.
Through Project Based Learning, all students can get involved in the following classes:
Mr. Pinillos - Science
Mr. Hoskisson - English, Screen Printing, Film
Mrs. Armstrong - English, ASB, Art, Culinary/Business
Specific Areas of Interest:
Business - Agriculture - Culinary
Mission Statement:
The vision is for individual communities to have at least one Aquaponics 4 Life site which can give away between 30 to 50 baskets of organic nutrient dense produce Bi-Monthly. These baskets of produce will be distributed to the community’s food insecure, single parents, seniors, and military families.
