Student Objectives:
In Computer Science Discoveries, students will learn about the role of data and data visualizations in the criminal justice system through the lens of Data Science.
They will explore the different ways to collect, tabulate, analyze and visualize datasets. Students will build background knowledge of the importance of working with large datasets to identify trends and patterns to help make decisions both on a local and national level.
Students will prepare informational materials (videos, posters etc) to local feeder middle school students to explain the role of a juror in the justice system. Kearny BST students will prepare middle school students for their role as jurors and observers for the upcoming Mock Trial.
Students will research ways to incorporate facts and data in order to communicate the important role citizens play in the justice system. They will create infographics, video PSAs and posters encouraging the participation in Jury Duty.
