We understand that some parents and students are still hesitant or anxious about having face-to-face classes, thus for SY 2022-2023, College of San Benildo-Rizal will offer two (2) learning modalities that the students may choose from:
Purely Online Classes
All synchronous and asynchronous classes will be held through the school’s official learning management system—MS Teams. Students enrolled in this modality will not be required to attend face-to-face classes.
Blended Online and Face-to-Face Classes
Students enrolled in this modality will attend face-to-face classes on certain days of the week. They will be engaged with learning activities with direct guidance from the classroom teacher during physical classes. On the remaining days of the week, they will attend online synchronous classes and will accomplish assigned asynchronous activities through MS Teams.
All the students are eligible to participate in the blended online and face-to-face classes provided that their parents have submitted the written consent/waiver and have paid the reservation fee in advance (for the slot reservation since the number of students in the face-to-face classes is limited). Students who frequently incur deficiencies or have learning difficulties in the online distance learning setup are encouraged to enroll in blended online and face-to-face classes. Please take note that students who belong to the vulnerable group with comorbidities should NOT enroll in face-to-face classes.
Yes. All administrators, teachers, and staff are undergoing a continuing professional development program to update themselves on essential skills necessary to manage and deliver online distance learning and blended online and face-to-face learning so as to appropriately address the learning needs of the learners who are enrolled in either of these two modalities.
Teachers
A structured professional development program for teachers is in place in preparation for next school year. Teacher training during the school break will focus on having a clear understanding of the learning modalities and ensuring that they are equipped with essential technical skills on lesson preparation and pedagogies for lesson implementation. The teacher training continues throughout the school year as they have to adjust to and address the learning needs of the students.
School Facilities and Management Systems
The school has fully migrated to an online grading, accounting, and enrollment system in support of the online distance learning of the students and online business transactions of parents and guardians. Also, internet connection on campus has been upgraded to ensure stable connectivity for online instruction and the teachers’ face-to-face lesson preparations and implementations. In addition, up-to-date gadgets and devices were acquired to support the two learning modalities. Furthermore, retrofitting of the facilities for face-to-face classes is now ongoing to ensure the safety and security of the students and personnel while on campus, following all the health protocols.
A. Before the opening of classes
A series of orientations for the students who will be joining the face-to-face classes will be conducted prior to the opening of classes. This will include virtual campus and classroom tours, discussion of rules and regulations and health protocols on campus, and kumustahan, to name a few. Moreover, the first two (2) weeks of face-to-face classes are intended for orientation with the advisers and subject teachers. This aims to prepare and properly guide students on the learning setup for the whole school year. It also aims to get them acquainted with the teachers and classmates whom they will be collaborating and learning with throughout the school year.
B. On Academics
Teachers will be available for Online Learning Assistance (OLA) during asynchronous or self-paced learning of students who are enrolled in either purely online or blended learning modalities. This is to ensure that questions and concerns of students will be attended to. Moreover, teachers may schedule an online remedial class on scheduled days that require the attendance of the students who need more assistance on specific lessons.
C. Social-Emotional Needs of the Students
Transitioning from purely online learning to blended learning can be challenging for both students and faculty. Students may experience stress and anxiety during face-to-face classes due to health restrictions and the new setup. Therefore, support from the parents, guardians, and teachers is essential. Our guidance office has enhanced our programs that will address the social-emotional learning needs of the students. Homeroom Guidance Programs are strengthened to ensure regular check-ins with students, to teach them strategies for organization, planning, and self-regulation, to talk about their day-to-day activities, discuss current events, and do other stress-reducing activities.
D. Extra-curricular Activities
School gatherings like workshops, collaborative class activities, honors assemblies, culminating activities, leadership training, socialization activities, and the like will still be held online since face-to-face assemblies are still not allowed while awaiting the guidelines to be given by the Department of Education.
E. Spiritual Formation
Being Catholic in orientation, the school shall continue holding online masses on scheduled days, class recollections, and other similar activities which will strengthen the students’ relationship with God. Organizing the first holy communion and confirmation for students are not yet allowed.
Yes, the students will be allowed to change their learning modality from blended to purely online learning or from purely online to blended learning thirty (30) calendar days after the opening of classes. However, this will go through a process of approval since this is subject to slot availability. Also, the accommodation of the request is on a first-come, first-served basis. Furthermore, increments on the school fees must be paid, and are nonrefundable.
Before the opening of classes
We recognize the vital role played by the parents in their child’s learning. Thus, parents will have a series of parent development sessions and orientations prior to the opening of classes. A separate advisory on the schedule of sessions will be announced soon through HRP Teams and/or the school’s official Facebook page.
Parent Support and Home-school Partnership during the school year
The Guidance Office has improved its continuing parent development program which aims to guide parents in the learning setup throughout the school year. Moreover, administrators' and teachers’ grade level meetings with parents and guardians will be conducted for feedbacks on students' performance. Furthermore, parents may collaborate with the administrators and teachers through online parent-teacher conferences, MS Teams chat, or email during office hours.
During face-to-face classes, students are required to wear the complete school uniform because we want to instill in them that one way of gaining respect and credibility and establishing authority is dressing appropriately at all times. But during online classes, students may wear their school uniform or at least the top (polo/blouse) of the uniform.
Yes, all students, regardless of their chosen learning modality, will be issued a radio-frequency identification (RFID) for SY 2022-2023. With the RF-Attendance system, student attendance management becomes easier, more efficient, and accurate. This attendance tracking system automates the attendance recording, data processing on the attendance server, daily SMS to parents, weekly and monthly attendance reports for teachers, MIS attendance reports, and the like.
Yes. We are currently coordinating with our school bus operators to ensure that their vehicles are compliant with the regulations set forth by the LTFRB and DOH in relation to the minimum health standard.
For SY 2022-2023, a modified set of rules and regulations will be implemented. These will be discussed during the orientation meeting with parents and students, and a PDF copy of the handbook will be issued to the students.
Yes. The purpose of the health declaration form is for the school to have an initial assessment and to gather information about persons coming inside the school campus. This is to determine that everyone who enters and leaves the campus is physically fit in the performance of duties and upholds the welfare of all the members of the school community. The process of submission of the forms will be discussed during the orientation with the parents and students.
Preferably, students should be vaccinated with COVID-19 vaccine if they wish to join the limited face-to-face classes. However, students, whether vaccinated or unvaccinated, are qualified to attend face-to-face classes. For the student’s health and safety, we encourage the parents to complete the pediatric inoculation of their children in preparation for face-to-face classes.
To prevent the possible transmission of COVID-19 among the learners, personnel, and other stakeholders, and as support to the health and safety of the school, we discourage visitors and external stakeholders from entering the school or staying on campus.
We encourage the students to bring their own packed snacks to school since they will have their managed recess in the classroom. Otherwise, minimum health protocols will be practiced in buying food from the canteen.
Yes, the student will be allowed to temporarily join the online classes during his/her quarantine period.
No. Since retrofitting of campus facilities is ongoing in preparation for the next school year, the school administration has decided not to host student vaccination on campus. We advise the parents to coordinate with their respective LGUs for the vaccination of their children.
Yes. All our personnel are fully vaccinated.
Yes. The parents have to sign and submit both the parental consent and the waiver.
No. Only students with a signed waiver from their parents will be allowed to join face-to-face classes. This is part of the requirements for the implementation of the blended learning modality. A sample of the consent and waiver will be posted on our MS Teams Student Central.
The administrators and teachers will consistently remind them of the health and safety protocols, signages will be posted inside and outside of the classrooms, and teacher proctors will be assigned inside the classroom or along the corridors to help monitor the students.
Due to the risks of still being exposed to the virus, the school commits to strictly adhere to the minimum health and safety protocols stipulated in DepEd-DOH JMC No. 1, s. 2021, DepEd-DOH JMC No. 001, s. 2022 and the guidelines indicated in DM 071, S. 2021, DM 085, s. 2021, and DO 017, s. 2022 issued by the Department of Education (DepEd). The school is working on the Self Safety Assessment Tool (SSAT) DM 030, s. 2022, a checklist that shows how ready the school is to conduct face-to-face classes. No private school will be allowed to have in-person classes without complying with all the requirements in the SSAT. Details of contact tracing, quarantine/isolation, and required type of face mask, will be discussed during the parent and student orientation before the opening of classes, since there may be changes in the health protocols if the quarantine classification of the Province of Rizal changes. A virtual campus tour will also be part of the orientation.
CoSB-R understands that most Benildean families are still trying to recover from the economic downturn brought about by the pandemic, so the Board of Trustees has decided not to increase tuition for SY 2022-2023. However, as we transition back to face-to-face learning, we need to adjust some miscellaneous fees that were lowered or not included in the school fees when we started online classes last SY 2020-2021. These fees include e-library fee, RFID, energy fee, virtual class picture, yearbook (for Grades 6 & 12), etc.
Yes. The Grades 6 and 12 students will be provided with a yearbook for SY 2022-2023.
Classes will start in August 2022.
