Each Maker Diploma student receives a personal electronics kit that contains essential tools and components required to facilitate the optimal learning of skills in electronics and Arduino through hands-on experience.
The Electronics kits contains: tools, power sources, breadboards, wires, resistors, capacitors, output devices, digital and analog sensors, switches, Arduino UNO board, and essential drivers.
For the purpose of completing the requirements of their final project, students may submit a request for extra components. The decision of providing an extra component is made on a case-by-case basis. Students can get the extra components upon their instructor approval.
All the components within the kit in addition to extra components provided for the purpose of completing the requirements of the final project, are the property of San3a Academy. Students are expected to use them carefully and return them back safely by the end of the program.
Students would be asked to sign documents stating their commitment to return the kit and any extra components in cases of finishing or dropping out of the diploma. Failure to return them by the mandated deadline puts the student at risk of facing legal consequences.
In order to achieve the objectives of the Maker Diploma, students learn to use new Software tools and packages for the purpose of computer-aided design, electronics development, and physical computing.
All software packages that are used in the Maker Diploma are available for Download for FREE or under a limited license
Students will be guided by the instructors on how to download, install, and use the required software for the week
All needed Software packages can be found below
Note: MAC users will need a backup plan either install windows, use another laptop or use maker space desktop
The program doesn't provide access to PCs or Laptops. Each student should have access to a laptop that is able to run the software tool chain. The minimal requirements are:
System: Windows 11, Windows 10, or Windows 8.1 / macOS™ Mojave
CPU Type: 64-bit processor
Memory: 4 GB RAM. More is recommended
Disk Space: 20 GB
Pointing Device: A mouse
Graphics Card: Dedicated GPU with 1 GB or Integrated graphics with 6 GB of RAM
All students are required to book their time-slots through a dedicated scheduling system before going to the Fab Lab
Students should optimize their usage to finish within their assigned time-slot.
Students are welcome to drop in the Fab Lab outside the allocated time-slot, as long as it is within the working hours of the Fab Lab (Sunday to Thursday - from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM). Note that you can access the machines and tools according to "The First Come First Served" rule
Fab Lab Specialists are working to facilitate your experience with accessing the lab tools, materials, and machines. Please refer to them if you face any problem. However, any inquiries regarding your assignments or project is not part of their work scope and you’ll have to refer to your Maker Diploma Instructor.
We find it necessary to monitor all areas of Fab Lab Egypt with security cameras. Cameras provide a visual deterrent to misuse, and assist with overall safety and security measures.
As you access Fab Lab, make sure that you..
Don’t bring any food inside
Follow the safety signage
Do not leave machines running unattended. The exception is 3D printers.
Do not try to maintain a machine or equipment. Just refer to the Lab Specialist.
Do not use tools that you don’t know how to use. Also refer to the Lab Specialist.
You cannot take tools or equipment out of Fab Lab.
Before leaving Fab Lab, make sure that you..
Inform the Fab Lab specialist with your usage of materials and machines
Return all the tools you used to their default storage locations
Leave the place tidy and properly dispose your litter or trash
Failure to do so will subject the student to a strike.
Each student is obligated to use the material quota allocated to them. If for any reason a student is required to use additional material, they should get back to their instructors for further instructions. You can find the material quota below.
