Ideation
I used Cura to modify the 3d file to print it on a 3d printer.
I used LaserCAD to modify my design to print it on the laser machine.
I used a 3D printer to print the file I prepared using Cura
I used PLA filament for 3D printer.
I used a laser cutting machine to cut the wood sheet and output the file that I modified using LaserCAD.
I used Plywood sheet for laser machine.
I entered the file into the LaserCAD program to start editing it.
I set the cutting force to 65 and the speed to 10 for cutting and I set the force to 50 and the speed to 300 for speed cut.
I set layer height 0.2 for high quality.
Because the medal was small and the contact surface area was large and because of its shape I did not need any Suppotr and made the Infill 10%
I entered the file into the Cura program to start editing it.
For the 3D printer, I selected white pla, then transferred the gcode file using an SD card to the printer, checked the temperature and let it do the rest. Of course I kept an eye on it to see if anything went wrong.
For the laser machine, I transferred my file to the device connected to the printer and made sure that it was still the same. I checked the focus and fixed the wood sheet, then I set the origin point and pressed the Box button to see the area that I would print on, then I closed the printer cover and made it start and I kept watching it to make sure that there were no problems with printing.
For laser
First I tested the focus and found that it was not correct because the wood sheet was not fixed, so I fixed it in place.
Then I transferred my file to the laser machine, and when I started printing, because the file I chose was full of small details the print started to fade, I had to either enlarge the print area or switch between cutting and speed cutting, I chose the latter option because I had a limited number of wood sheet.
And it worked here my little tree.
For 3D
The problem I had with the 3D printer was that the pla material got stuck so nothing came out at first, so I got some help from the coordinator and yeah I learned something new about 3D printing.
And I forgot to set the temperature to 210.
So after fixing this problem and checking the temperature, the printer started printing without any problems.
Here is my cute little kitty
After using the laser machine and the 3D printer myself, I gained new experience that will benefit me in the final project. I will use the laser machine to print the body of the project and the 3D printer to connect and make the bodies that will need details.
Using the machines myself and working with my team members to do one project was the best thing especially the little T-Rex I loved it
Another cool thing this week is the design and printing of this little T-Rex.
The other is the guessing game we played at the beginning of the session.
