Gingerbread cookie cutter

I chose to make this cute gingerbread cookie cutter to surprise my mom cause she wanted a one like this!☺️

so i downloaded the STL file from Thingivers.

Tool Chain

I used Cura software to prepare my file and download it on Prusa i3 MK2 3D printer with a filament type PLA.

Design/Preparation Process

1- First download the STL file from Thingivers.

2- Open cura and import the file.

3- Rotate the gingerman from the x-axis to put it flat on the bad.

4- Adjust the parameters by chick the snap scaling and unchick the uniform scaling, then adjust the z-axis by (10mm) to lower the hight of the cookie cutter.

now we don't need a supports, also the infill density is 20%.

then make the resolution or the layer height (Extracoarse 0.6mm) and the infill pattern Grid.

5- Now click on (slice) to see how much time and grames will this cookie cuuter take.

so as we can see it will take 13g 4.45m and 34 minutes and this is what we already want.

6- Click on (save to disk) to save your file as G-code to upload it to the 3D printer later.

7- Finally as you can see here you can click on (preview) to see the slicing process and the shape of the material from the iside brfore you can save the file.

Implementation/Fabrication

8- Now choose PLA filament on the printer then adjust the filament to the printer and be sure it will be the color you want then adjust the printer to be heated and choose your file and upload it to start building.

Coffee Coaster

Since i love coffee, I decided to make this coffee coaster, but not exactlly like this one in the picture, i will add my own touches. ✨

I downloaded the DXF file from 3-axis.

but i'll do some edits in the fabrication steps to draw the coffe in te middle instead of cut it.

and i'll do a speed cut to the circles in around the coffee to be drawn in a brown colore.

I used laser work software to prepare the DXF file on it and then download it as RLD file to upload it on El Malky ML149 CO2 Laser Cutter.

Design/Preparation Process

1- First download the DXF file from 3-axis website.

2- Then open laserwork software and import the DXF file.

3- Close the lock and adjust the dimentions of the frame you'll cut into.

I adjust it (120x120mm).

4- Now make every part with different color so the machine can differenciate between the parts it will cut/speed cut and the parts that will be scaned.

Here I made the cut with black color, the speed cut with red color and the scan with blue color.

5- Now adjust the power and the speed of every color..

Black ( min power = 50 , max power = 55 & speed = 30)
Red ( min power = 20 , max powe = 25 & speed = 300)
Blue ( min power = 10 , max power = 12 & speed = 300)

After adjusting press download to go to the next step on the machine.

6- Now press file and upload the file to the machine and adjust the origin point and press on origin button and then frame to see if it's the frame size you want and once you are sure, press start.

Now laser cut machine started cutting the coffee coaster.☕

Overcoming Challenges

The only challenge i faced was making the height of the cookie cutter shorter than the existing to reduce the PLA grames and also to take less time.
I overcome this challenge by adjusting the z-axis as 10mm instead of 15mm.
