The idea for the stretch box came to life after seeing friends, colleagues and family struggle with back and neck problems. Most of these pains were caused by sitting for prolonged time, working on the computer and forgetting to stretch or walk around every hour or so.
The stretch box is based on the retro 'crankie box', which is a manual panorama storytelling device. My prototype has a roll of stretching illustrations installed on 2 stepper motors. With a push on the button the different stretches move in front of the screen one by one. Each stretching position takes 10 seconds before moving to the next position. The exercises are accompanied by some relaxing background music.
