Recently, I realized that my office is full of pens, rulers, pins, papers, and books.
So, I decided to make a pen holder that also contained slots to put my books papers, and calculator on.
After some research, I found this one but I customized its dimensions to be suitable for my office and the fabrication.

MACHINES & MATERIALS
Designing using Fusion 360
I sketched the side with suitable dimensions and made it fully defined.
Then, I extruded the sketch by 3mm.
I made the second side, then back and base.
I used fillets to make the sharp edges smooth enough.
Then, I made joints between every two parts.
Finally, I inserted the holes of the T-slot (screws and nuts).
Preparing Parts Using RDWorks
Importing the DXF file of the front face into the workspace.
Customizing the setting of black color:
Processing mode => Cut
Speed of cutting => 40 mm/s
Power of cut => 45
Customizing the setting of red color:
Processing mode => scan
Speed of cutting => 250 mm/s
Power of cut => 45
Download the file to the laser-cutting machine.
Laser cutting
After preparing the design in RDWorks, I downloaded it on the laser cutting machine.
Next, I put a 3mm plywood sheet on the machine and secured it with 4 pieces of wood.
Then, I placed the new origin by moving the laser head and testing the frame to make sure it was suitable.
Finally, I pressed start to begin printing the design. The process took about 9 minutes.
In the designing phase, I used to copy and paste to make similar parts from one part. After making some other parts, I wanted to edit on one of the copied parts but it was very annoying because any edit in the part, the other copied parts became similar to this one.
Solution => I knew from instructors there is a tool called Paste New, and this was very useful in this issue.
This week, I developed my skills in Fusion 360 by making a Pencil Holder, and I learned how to plan first before using the software. This will help me in the final project to plan well for the design before starting.
I learned other techniques of fitting parts together and using 3d parts in this like a Bracket with a captive nut, and I can customize its angle based on the project.
